I usally just wear a shirt with ripped jeans. Lots of ugly
colors (Orange and Brown) and I put Wax in my hair.

I've been dressing the same since I was like 12 : \

I recently I have been carrying a book in my back pocket
cause Im really into it (Isaac Asimov - THE LEFT HAND OF THE
ELECTRON). I feel like an eleetist prick but it fits so well
in my back pocket and I'm really digging the book !

Maybe BOOKS will be an IDM fashion ?

Haha, a book in the back pocket... I can see that.
Discreet, but unique enough to be pinpointed by other IDM
fans.. or perverts. Probably both.

I think from the general consensus of this thread, we can
all collectively say that, for the most part, we dress
*maturely*, meaning that we dress to impress no one but
ourselves. We do not care to use physical appearance as a
factor in the idm scene, or lack of one, in your area (this
also might be a factor in itself, meaning that, if you are
the only person in your town who listens to this music, then
you have no one to mimc: "there's john, he listens to IDM,
and so do i, but he dresses a certain way, its a peculiar
style of dress, maybe i should dress like that." which
happens oh so often for some fucking reason... but i
digress...).

I dress in button up polyester/silk shirts, cargo pants or
shorts, short, slicked back hair and sandals, and slick
raybans. I consider myself to have the style of a rich
playboy, without the 20,000 dollar rolex.

maybe its about the working class

maybe its about cocaine.

jups, jeans, trainers and band shirts is my style.
the occasional button pinned on my jacket, etc..

nothing special, like the rest here :p

starting a style is exactly what we dont want to do because
then people might like the style and not really like the
music and then we would have these people listening to our
music but not really like it then the music would get ghey

I don't think there's any IDM fashion. I just wear the same
two boring shirts, alternately, and some... jeans.

I imagine the geek quotient is a little higher in IDMdom, so
we lack style and pizazz. Most of us. Not Nacmat or Supreme
or any of those guys... they're sex machines.

I think IDMdom probably has a lot more 'alternative' types
than other communities. More goths, grungers, punks and what
have you. I'd say we're pretty diverse.

i wear expensive diesel or paper jeans. zipperd mock turtle
neck sweatshirt and bowling (looking shoes). lots of dark
drab colors, smokey gray, olive green, rust. with a few
oranges or purples mixed in there.

I thought IDM fashion was to dress like that kid in the 2nd
grade that always smelled like pee.

I've got it! The perfect IDM fashion accessory we can
institute immediately! The duct tape bracelet! Sticky side
out! It's totally useless, a bit tacky, non-referential,
potentially discreet, but with plenty of room for abuse ..
we can stick stuff to it, we can wear it around for kicks..
an good conversation piece around the more conservative
types, and a way to pick out other IDMers in a crowd! I need
to start a website or something so we can rally up
everyone..

I can count (X Grungie, here) but instead of sticky side
out... you fold it almost in half so there's just a little
bit of sticky stuff, then you're rockin

I wear my underwear over my jeans, like Superman. Don't
knock it 'till you've tried it.

I lie. I've switched from a boxer-guy to boxer-briefs, they
make for a far more impressive bulge.

*does the masking tape thing
it actually doesn't look all to bad,

looks like a hospital band or something, for crazy people

you could easily draw some cool designs and stuff on it,

teh next thing we should all do is key some old sdram chips
and make keyrings and necklaces out of it

Fashion is often an icon of values portrayed upon you by boy
bands and big name rap stars. IDM strips away all of the
materialistic values and leaves you with pure sound. It is
only its own self with its own style just as you should be.
Eiffel65 wear 'killer loop' shades and make no secret of
this fact, they are paid to do so. AFX gets up in the
morning, puts a random coat on he may have got for £25
three years ago and recently seems as tho he can't be arsed
to even shave. Any one of us may be like this, no make up,
we just get up and get dressed with whatever we may have.
It's real. You get what you see not what you are made to
see/purchase. You don't need a certain brand of jeans to
impress/fit in. If there is any common style it would appear
from my mediocre knowledge that retro t-shirts (Sinclair
etc), independent t-shirts (AFX, Warp) and individuality are
the only things we hold true.
