I really do hope so...everything related to Wu that has been released since Liquid Swords has been a disappointment for me.

But Supreme Clientele wasn't as good as it could have been...and it was the only jewel in the rough. I seriously think the Wu had 2, possibly 3 decent years and that was it...it has been 7 or 8 if people waiting and hoping for something of the same calibre as their early stuff.

i loved wu-tang forever even more than 36 chambers.. rza developed as producer and musician and they all developed lyrically. i think 36 chambers is a classic but i don't think a lot of people want to give the wu credit for dropping intelligent and meaningful lyrics on their 2nd album, not just some catchy lines (exceptions being tracks like "can it all be so simple" and "cream"). supreme clientele was great; it's hard to really say something wasn't as good as it could've been because really, what is?

Even though the production quality was better on forever I think it lost what made the Wu exciting in the first place. The grimy kind of "Fuck it lets do this" mentality was gone. For me there is a problem when rappers who lyrically aren't the strongest try to go concious, it never works properly. Raekwon in particular is useless when he tries to do anything other than his ghetto gangster shit...but at least they seem to have dropped Superhb or whatever his name was...he is the worst rapper I have ever heard on a major release.

well i discovered the wu right as forever was coming out so i didn't have any preconceived notions of what it was supposed to be; i think that's what spoils a lot of wu (and wu-fam) stuff and hip-hop in general for folks. for conscious shit, "impossible" gives me goosebumps everytime. i don't think the wu set out to be preachers on the album but they got serious (for the most part; i mean there was still "dog shit" and some bragging tracks on there) and i think that worked out pretty well for them.

hehe, that's sweet, as a person who listens to very little rap, I appreciate his style very much.

supreme clientele was nice.. it wasnt wu-enough for me to consider it a real wu-tang album though.. and cherchez la ghost's presence on that album always prevented me from fully appreciating it
you have to be really into them and the sound they're known for to get into a lot of the wu-fam releases.. but for the most part a lot of stuff from 1998 has become cosistently increasingly hit-or-miss
raekwon and ghost are two of the most fascinating lyricists out there
raekwon/ghostface/nas "verbal intercourse" is probably the best example of the sound I absolutely love rza(/4th disciple/true master) for
method man is a fucking tool
check these songs: "soldiers of darkness" sunz of man "tai chi" killah priest "sunshower" wu-tang clan "diesel" wu-tang clan "marvel" ghostface killah "iron maiden" ghostface killah "camay" ghostface killah "slang editorial" cappadonna
also, rza produced a song called "the world of susie wong" which samples the doors' "soft parade" for last emporer.. it's great.
finally, rza has a great opportunity with his scoring of "Kill Bill" I hope he doesn't drop the fucking ball on this one.

enter the 36 chambers was (is) amazing....tical i also rate highly with raekwons first album and the gza s first album...but then it all went tdownhill for me...though the soundtrack (japanese version) of ghost dog is raw as fuck and actually quite brilliant...
all that to say i agree with ecnadniarb.

His new album Birth of a Prince got some very strong tracks and some weak ones.
This album is a evolution concept album where he goes from his "BAD" persona Bobby Digital to become the wise on Prince Rakeem. Its all about the transformation.
The best tracks are the last track where he is Rakeem.
check out the track THE BIRTH from the new album, its absolutely fucking beautiful and SEE THE JOY is also amazing (in this track he describe hes life as a sperm).
Other track worth mentioning that u can download (and eventully buy the album if u like it ofcourse) is A DAY TO GOD IS A 1000 YEARS and THE GRITS.
Also worth checking if u like RZA is the collabo track he did with a french house producer (his name is iCube) called Can U Deal With that, the remix is much better and none of the versions are house so it all good ;)

I've never heard of that iCube thing..
the whole bobby digital concept has been fumbled and has been so half-baked from the start.. the concept applied to this was actually the one used for "Digital Bullet" .. that's why the last couple of tracks were the transforming.. and the last track was called "The Sickness" .. it was supposed to lead into "The [long delayed and most likely never to be released] Cure" album.
hobbes.. "Ironman" the last of the great wu-tang albums before "Forever" is just as good as those albums you mentioned.. it's the last one fully produced by RZA
