i still have my sega genesis, but only two games, general chaos and toejam and earl. nintendo has nothing that even comes CLOSE to those gems.

Nintendo destroys Sega, but the Genesis is no slouch, has tons of hidden gems... Gunstar Heroes is brilliant, shame it never had a sequel! Dynamite Headdy was great too.
Shinobi 3 was so badass... one of the best side scrollers ever.

Hmm.....a tough decision between two very worthy contenders.
Nintendo brought us an affordable and fun home entertainment system, the NES, and introduced arguably the two most famous video game characters in history, the Mario brothers. They have consistently delivered well designed and highly entertaining systems, from the Game Boy to the SNES to the N64 to the Game Cube. Without nintendo we wouldn't have had Goldeneye 64, Mario Kart, the Mario Bros. series, Zelda, etc.
Enter the challenger, Sega. Although not as pervasive a company in the global market as Nintendo, Sega has always been on the "edge" in terms of video games. Nintendo had its mario brothers, while Sega had Sonic the Hedgehog, thought by many kids and adults to be twice as cool as the mario twins combined. Sonic was just so damn fast; I remember when the game came out, I was completely blown away by the speed of the game and the high-energy feel it had. I still play sonic to this day.
But Sega made some poor marketing decisons in its console line. The Genesis was a contender, but everything after that started to wane in popularity. The 32x, the SegaCD, the Dreamcast never could keep up with their counterparts like the n64 or playstation. However, Sega will always have a special place in my heart.

That's an awesome shirt, not that I'm interested in clothes in particular at all though.
I think I actually like genesis more than snes... the 6 button controller is essential for streetfighter 2... road rash 2... toe jam and earl... sonic's... the best game I can find in my bin of snes games now is mario kart (well out of ones I havn't over played like punchout).
I'm currently beating mario kart in the hardest difficulty using EVERY character on EVERY course and coming in first. The hardest so far was yoshi on the star cup. I've done every character on the mushroom and flower cup and am almost done with the star cup.

I hold them both in high esteem.
Super mario world and the sonic the hedgehog are the best platform games ever!
