Yummy cd... really nice straight through, however the
instrumentals at the end, tracks 7 - 11, are pretty
excellent! I especially love track 7, New Career in a New
Town... Mmmm... almost makes me cry, yet it's an uplifting
kind of crying... good stuff!

it's a pretty strange album, but still pretty catchy...

i was standing with it in my hand just yesterday, only 9,99
in the free record shop in the station
but i got to depressed to buy it, because last week i had
this perfect stack of 7 cd's, and found out i couldnt afford
it, this week i couldnt find all the cd's anymore and still
think i shouldnt buy them
it was, if i remember right, this one, town to town by
bowie, blur, perfect circle, jeff buckley and 2 placebo's
(no idea which one was better, as with bowie)
so i like intrumentals that make me cry, so i guess i'll buy
this cd?

I'm not that keen on the songs on Low, but the instrumentals
are absolutely fantastic, which I found surprising. Great
album.

I thought though that Brian Eno was the producer of these
Berlin albums... but he's not...

I prefer the work he did with tin machine. Low was too artsy
fartsy for me. Not enough guitar.

Why does nobody love Lodger? That's my favorite of those
albums, I can live without the instrumentals.

i'm really glad you finally bought a bowie album and that
you made such a great first choice. what do you think of
"subterraneans", "art decade", and "warszawa"? brian eno
played a big part on this album, especially these tracks, as
you rightly suspected.

Low is my favorite Bowie album

I was fortunate enough to get to see Bowie and Trent Reznor
do a duet of Subterraneans when they toured together in
1996. it was fucking awsome. Trent played the saxaphone.

well I knew he was involved... but I thought as producer...
but he's not, Tony Visconte or someone is... and Eno is only
listed as a co-writer on one track... so, exactly how is he
involved, besides playing instruments... seems Bowie did all
the writting and stuff himself... I figure eno played a
bigger part...

I love all the instrumentals though... they're the best!

and yeah, I've wanted to get a bowie album for a while, so I
saw it at the store for 7.99 euros, which is still a good
price in Canadian dollars, and figured I'd get it... now I
want more... Heros and Scary Monsters are next I think...

it seems writing credits back then were'n the same as they
are now. i've noticed on other albums where someone had alot
of influence into the sound quality, and they weren't given
their due. it's a shame that "writing credits" have
basically always had to mean they wrote the main progression
or the lyrics.

i think some of it is co-written by eno, check the writing
credits. but even if he didn't write melodies, the
instrument treatments he added made a big impact. plus as
tibbar said, those credits are often inaccurate.

today he'd be given a producer credit but at the time for
whatever reason he wasn't.

Fantastic album!

Ever seen the film "The Man Who Fell to Earth"? The cover
artwork is a still from the film. Mind you, I think the
orange background might have been airbrushed in or
something. Anyway, it's a great film, very weird.
Definitely worth seeing.

I remember reading somewhere that Bowie's Berlin trilogy
(Low, Heroes, Lodger) was almost 50-50 Eno and Bowie, and
that by rights Eno should have been credited fully (i.e.
"David Bowie and Brian Eno - Low"). Might not be true
though.

I thought it was the most annoyingly pretentious film I've
ever seen in my entire life. :S
