Placebo - Sleeping with ghosts

I bought this CD today (the 2CD edition).
It's kinda special CD, I remember I'd just begun listening
to it when I started posting here (I didn't own the CD back
then).
yes, thoose days were good.
The spring was coming up and everything.

Now it's a copyprotected CD, but it's still playable in
Winamp. Also when I play it in that lame M$ software (which
comes with the CD) it sounds like shit! I have no idea why
it's like that, but the cd sounds like very lowquality mp3.
Anyway, winamp works just fine and I can get the good
quality... (but what's up with the m$ software, the CD is
obviously fine, and it just fucks the sound UP!)

If you have anything to add, please discuss

If you copied it to your cd-rom drive using media player -
change the bitrate. The default is 96

no I was playing the actual CD and it sounded like crap.
In winamp it sounds ok though. But there are no settings in
the M$.application (the Wmmp Module)...
anyway I've got winamp, so it's good enough. I was just
wondering why it sounded so bad when playing it with the
software that came with the CD.

In that case I have no idea.

I quite like some Placebo songs - 'Scared Of Girls';
'Special K'... er, I'm sure there was another

yeah placebo is great. the tracks you mentioned come from
the 2nd and 3rd cd.
I like all of their albums, but I think the 2nd one
("without you I'm nothing") is the one I've listened to the
most...

which is the best placebo album in your opinion?

I have:

without you I am nothing
black market

I need the first one and the last one

difficult question... depends on what mood you're in. All
are very good albums...
I won't exclude any by picking a favourite, but I don't
know... maybe the 2nd album has been my fav cd during the
longest period + most periods, but I have had the same good,
positive, feelings about all albums, atleast once.

Sleeping with Ghosts is pretty good, but Without You I'm
Nothing is the best, nice and glammy. You already have the
two best ones. The self titled is kind of generic...

Without You I Am Nothing is best.

after that it all turns to crap. Black Market Music is very
repetitious of what they had done before - Sleeping With
Ghosts even more.

i have all of the cd's and seen em live eight times maybe -
without you i'm nothing is the best one for sure , black
market muisc is good and has some beautiful tracks , peeping
tom, heamaglobin but the latest album is mediocre in my
estimation which is a shame . the seem to have lost the
intensity they had , mind you interpol have a similar
intensity on some of thier tracks so i've defected to them
for now

Interpol is definitely awesome, Turn on the Bright Lights is
my favorite rock album of the last two years or so. And your
post count is equally awesome.

i didn't buy the album because i boycott protection.. but i
love the cover (of course!).

as for the music... on the first listen at least, it sounds
ok but nothing amazing nor really original except
English Summer Rain, The Bitter End and Special Needs.

i love English Summer Rain, i'm playing it on repeat now.

I love Placebo. Saw them live and moshed at the front
continuously.

Placebo - Solid but underdeveloped
Without You I am Nothing - Classic
Black Market Music - Nice stuff but a bit cheesy
Sleeping With Ghosts - Mellower, darker, gorgeous production

I have the 1st two albums. But after that i grew a little
tired of Placebo. Without You I Am Nothing is nice, some
tracks are truly incredible. But every single i've
heard from the 3rd album i thought was very boring. Even
though the music itself doesn't seem to be very different
from what they were doing before. It was just... more of the
same. So like i said, i lost interest.

However the first 3 singles from Sleeping w/Ghosts have
pleasantly surprised me. Again even though the music doesn't
seem that much different from before... it still sounds very
much like placebo. But somehow these songs (bitter end, this
picture, special needs) managed to touch me again. I can't
really say why, but i'll probably be buying the album soon.
I already have the covers-cd, which is for the most part
really nice. I love their version of Bigmouth Strikes Again!

I hate his voice... there was one song I loved, but I forget
the name...
