what the fuck. i somehow made my computer completely bypass volume control when i record shit, and it records anything and everything at the highest possible volume, resulting in ear piercing disortion. i fucking hate computers and everything they stand for! they sent people to the moon on something that had less processing power than a 486 and it didn't crash! you know why? because PEOPLE'S LIVES WERE AT STAKE! so from now on, EVERY time something goes wrong on my pc, i'm going to literally kill somebody at microsoft or cakewalk. eventaully, they'll start getting the picture and actually debug this shit. now i guess i have to learn how to use fruity loops after all. this pisses me off. |

Are you sure you are changing the volume recording options and not the general volume options? |

In the Mixer go into options>>properties and set shit for Recording. |

i turned mic boost off. i have no idea what's wrong. i was all set to rip off some GYBE and this has SERIOUSLY fucked up my evening plans. when i turn the mic volume all the way down or mute it it STILL does it! :( |

Yes but there are two mic controls...one in the playback options and one in the record options and you can only get to the record options through the top bar. |

sounds like (no pun intended) a mic / aux mix-up or some pre-amp has been switched on which was previously off |

there was a checkbox in cakewalk that said "don't work" i found it and unchecked it. actually i uninstalled cakewalk, shut down my computer, reinstalled, and it worked. i have no idea what i did. |
