first of all organiztation was a mess, but at least we got
to see some really wonderful acts

*friday favourites:
-t.raumschmiere: crazy as ever (was mostly playing stuff
from his new album, which is really nice, btw), went all mad
when they didnt let him play louder, threw oxygen 8 (i
think)into crowd (it wasnt his, so the guy in charge for
equipment jumped into crowd as well, to get it back),
raumschmiere refused/was forbiden to continue...
-leo anibaldi, some cool drum n bass, sounded really "raw"
-hellfish, my favourite of the night (he came in as a
replacement for mike paradinas, i was really pleased about
this as i never seen him before, playing mostly his stuff,
wicked...

*saturday: this is when the big confusion began-apperantly
half of italy went out of electricity, so they had to cancel
last 4 acts (PLAID, LORY D, THE BUG and VENETIAN SNARES) so
that day was finished at 4 am already cos of this, no need
to say its not that easy to check in a hotel in rome when
the whole town is out of electricity
there were some nice acts before the electricity trouble
though:
-mum, i liked them quite a lot, but the sound wasnt that
cool as i think they were having some troubles with
equipment...they were playing, well, their music :)
-boom bip, a big disapointment, he was playing guitar?? with
a drummer and bass player suporting him...weird
-lots of others, nothing memorable though
-RICHARD DEVINE: my favourite perhaps, i have no idea what
that was, totaly crazy beats, mental stuff, and he was
getting kind of wild as well hehe
-the set by francisco and passarani was also likable

*sunday
great surprise, as some main acts were cancelled on saturday
cos of trouble with electricity, they rescheduled them for
sunday!!! except plaid...nothing to bad as i dont like their
music that much

my favourite acts on sunday:
-d'archangelo, really crazy stuff, wicked beats and some
cool melodies, wonderful to make you wild...i was surprised
to hear music like this from him, as he's kind of soft on
his records,

second part...

great surprise
-gescom, just one guy, having a half our dj set?? of pretty
lame music (to me at least), but at least he came to play
(im pretty sure promoter had many problems with dealing with
artists as well, it was a really lame organization...)
-LORY D, amazing stuff, i was listening to him last year,
but he was then promoting his last album (which is great,
btw), but this time he was playing music i would definitely
want to see it released...almost techno at times, with quite
some improvisation involved, also lots of great hard beats,
seemed like he really knows how to do a perfect show-not
just musically speaking...unforgetable!
the bug- was cool, the loudest guy on this festival, mc was
there as well, but the music was so loud, we could hardly
hear mc at all, but bug didnt seem to mind that, he was just
doing his stuff (btw, aperantly aaron funk is quite a fan)
-aperantly lots of people came to see jungle brothers, but i
think many of you would agree they're shit
-venetian snares: my first time seeing him, impressive
stuff, looks really handy with his equipment, playing fucked
up stuff as always...there were like 50 people left at the
end...i dont remember i ever needed any break when i was
enjoing some music, but this time i was taking a 2 minute
break each 10 minutes, just way to hardcore to be able to
follow, especially after 3 days of getting wild to so many
other acts, and they put snares to close up the festival (on
sunday at 5.30 am?), well he was scheduled for saturday
first, but it ended up like this...anyway im totally
impressed with his skill (the music part its not that
important in his act at all imo, he's just there to bring
the place down)...he had some troubles with his equipment
(nothing new to the promoter), so there was a hlf hour break
in between his act, but at least people were able to renew
some energy :)
looking forward to his future gigs (especially when/if he
gets into the music part some more).

i think i'll go to sleep now, as i havent slept for 35 h

btw, imagine people that flew to rome just for saturday
lineup, there were, i'd say about twice as much people there
on saturday as there were on sunday, and they all missed the
main acts of that night...they pick one weekend in year and
the electricity goes out on a day like this...
btw, i missed whole day at work today, so thats not a good
thing, but i went to rome mainly to see snares so...

i guess there must have been someone else there from
xltronic (beside sepix) as there were lots of uk people
there

plaid and mu-ziq didn't play? i would've asked for a partial
refund, especially since people on sunday's lineup were
probably bumped to make room for the others..

btw what did you expect from boom bip? have you heard his
album?

i'd like to see richard devine live because he says he tests
his craziest tracks in front of an audience..

the jungle brothers were once THE shit (not shit) but
they're a nostalgia act now.. i'm not sure how they get onto
so many great festivals

actually sunday original lineup was meant to finish at 1.30
am, so they put the acts that were cancelled on saturday to
polay the last on sunday and it was like until 5.30 am, and
the people that bought ticket for the saturday could enter
on sunday after midnight for free

i was kind of tired on sunday, so i really didnt mind plaid
were not playing as im not a big fan (i'd rather see them
instead of jungle brothers tho)
also i was pleased to see hellfish jump in instead of
paradinas as i saw him earlier this year, but i never saw
hellfish before

but, we were lucky things turned out as they did, because
everything seemed to go wrong

about jungle brothers...

i guess they're invited to attract more people
i was quite shocked to see all those people enjoying that
shit (i only peeked in cos i cant stand that music)

then cool acts came on, but many people left...which was
cool in a way (more room for hardcore fans)

[i was there with tolstoyed]

sepix i remember seeing a guy that looked alot like your
avatar. where exactly were you while snares was playing? i
found out someone from watmm was there too :> his nickname
on watmm is e-soh-coh-reh. i think hes from rome.

anyhow, the entire weekend was really really great. i too
was there mostly for snares, but also enjoyed lots of other
acts. richard devine really managed to impress me. him and
snares were my favorites.

my actual avatar isn`t me, there will be photos up soon on
my site. i was in the middle wearing a sonicterror shirt
...

the festival was very italian, chaotic and strange organized
- no big deal for me i`ve been to festivals in italy
before.

the first night was fun cause we found out µ-ziq canceled -
his son got ill and he couldn`t play - instead hellfish was
showing up wich was wicked because he was canceled when the
lineup was shortened. didn`t care very much about the first
acts but hellfish was fun - made us dancing and shouting =)
still after about 30 minutes the volume seemed to be turned
down and he looked a bit bored - maybe not enough people for
him

the second day was very weird - like the day before every
act started 1, 2 hours late ... after richard devine plaid
should have appeared - after a huge rain shower power was
suddenly gone ... we waited about 2 hours or something until
it was clear that there`s a local power loss and the evening
will be canceled.

very very cool was late afternoon - some beatboxing guy and
2 dj comrades did a fucking superb live show. i saw some
beatboxing allready but this guy, a member from 3fx, was
absolutely incredible. just said "dj set" and scratched
himself on 2 "air turntables" - you really could watch his
hands doing a dj job in the air while he did the complete
thing with just his mouth and a mic - near to the end it got
even weirder when he played m.jackson tracks and sang to
them at the same time :P

day 3 - some friends of us, map and siouxsie checked out the
place and found out everything should continue from 4pm ...
we arrived at about 7 and nothing was happening until 11pm
or something ... at the office we heared plaid will play to
95% - until midnight it was clear they canceled. there was
some fun going on in the hall but again i missed the groups
before snares ... the music at the beginning and the volume
had been perfect - after the moment i lost my glasses in the
crowd everything went worse. the mixer had been fucked and
aaron lost his tem

per ... 3 , 4 italian guys tried to fix the mixer ... aaron
tried to continue ... nothing. after putting up a cd and
changing the mixer it was continued but not for very long.
still the short time music was played i absolutely went
mental - he does good mixing and the new tracks are superb
=)

i am not sure how to feel about the whole thing maybe it has
been just far too much positive and negative emotions at the
same time ;)

lory d was the one who builded up tracks very slowly right ?
that was ok but everything he did just took too long.

i missed the bug too, yes. saw the last 10 minutes or
something wich where very impressing.

snares pics here

could be you think of the right one

to make sure...he was the one when the place was really dark
and he had some glasses (spacey looking...could be night
vision glasses)
the start and the end of his set was the same tune, but in
the middle there was pretty harsh stuff

and nice pics!

strange holidays and strange festival
actually that fits exactly to everything which happened the
last week

well i was quite dissapointed that plaid and mu-ziq were
cancelled. at least snares was playing a nice set allthough
those technical troubles were sort of annoying.

those pics arent as good as i expected them to be. but it
wasnt my camera so i dont really know what went wrong.

What a weekend...

Considering how many of the acts I was just dying to see
were actually cancelled, it still turned out to be great.
Highpoints were definitely Richard Devine, The Bug, Hellfish
and Snares, really good sets by Legowelt, Tim Wright,
Debasser (who we had a fun time hangin' with, good bloke,
that), Thomas Raumschmiere...D'arcangelo were fun, Gescom
was kinda average (who was that guy anyway, and why not Sean
& Rob?), Anibaldi & Passarani were good, Lory D I had been
wanting to see for like a decade and was bored stiff...
Really surprising was Sage Francis who is one hell of an MC
and a clever dude as well...really varied, intelligent and
wholly original stuff he did outside. Strek was a discovery
as well, also played some fucked up IDM drillnbass outside.

Plaid cancelling really broke my heart, µ-ziq as well,
then again, so did the fact that UR cancelled previously, as
did Ceephax and numerous other I had wanted to see.

Had a good bouncy time with the Quannum crew, Lateef is just
one of the best, no doubt no doubt...
And the Jungle Brothers...well...I just went for it.

THE embarassment was Andy Fletcher, who played a lazy CD set
with all bootleg mashup craparoo and commercial breakbeats
and electro, right after Devine Iif I recall correctly. Bad
programming, for sure.

The blackout messed me up big time, wandering home all
sweaty and drunk in the pouring rain gave me a massive
throat infection which I decided to ignore the next day,
making it even worse. Managed to completely obliterate
myself on Sunday, and am still recovering. kid 606 tonight,
and the beat goes off....

As for Snares...I couldn't help to think that he was acting
like a second rate Diva. Sho nuff, having your mixer fucked
is a terrible thing, but making it more about yourself than
about the audience just plain sucks, especially since the
70+ people who were still there were ONLY there to see HIM.
He's been performing for years now, and simply communicating
to the audience what's going on would have solved the

batesman - yes it is true - he could have acted like nothing
happened

still, i met him before and we talked a bit - he would have
prefered to play the night before and was a bit tired as
well

but he really wanted to play and also asked me what i wanna
hear - the fucked equipement just ruined his mood - i`m
dj`ing myelf and know the situation - you try to make the
best but at some point you just don`t care anymore - 4, 5
guys fixing technics don`t help either - wether you play it
or not

so from my side i was nearly in tears when he just stopped
but am happy that he tried to continue as long as well -
wich made me dancing like nails 8)

alright lads, well the ghostdog and 4 mates made the trip
from the british isles expected some drugged up debauchery
in the classic dedbeat style but were more than a little
dissapointed. One dealer who, admittedly, had some quality
MDMA for 3 of us on friday but utterly bogus "love" pills
the other nights simply wasnt enough leaving us to satisfy
ourselves with drink the most time. Except you had to buy a
fucking ticket before you got your ¤3 half pint and with
only 1 guy selling em it became almost farcical. A mate of
mine was fucking livid calling the organisation a shower of
shite before asking how many weeks in advance you had to
book your beer on the internet before you got served. At
least the ¤5 shots were more like 6 shots so they kept our
spiriits up for a while before the browney white stuff
kicked in. Music was all OK on friday night until Hellfish
who fuckin rocked our socks off like a bad un. Saturday,
well we didnt arrive till 230 cos we were hitting the town
on the "white night", we came to half an hour of silence cos
the organisers couldnt pull their fingers out. Finally
Devine came on and was actually fucking good but then the
lights went out and that was that. My mate, the only geezer
in the joint to get something out of them "love" pills - was
a fucking motormouth tho chattin to every hot (non hairy
hippy) bird (ie one) and then everyone else. He went up to
this bloke that organised it and said "Are you the guy
running the PITS festival" upon which the guy almost bropke
into tears saying "Ive spent the past nine months of my life
organising this only for it to fall apart and I dont need
your cheeky fucking attitude", afterwards my mate went
running round the nearby blacked out train station screaming
"the black night is the best night ever!!" so at least
someone had the craic.

Sunday I dont remember too much as I drank a litre of vodka
and got completely fucked spending most of the night going
up to everyone saying "ou est la pasta" (pasta=pills in
italian) to no avail. Eve

Even the organisers wouldnt give me any. Finally regained
consciousness to see snares who was the don.

So all in all no fucking dedbeat and a bit of shambles, even
on sunday there were like 1/2 hour gaps of silence between
sets. I let this be known to the organiser on friday night
and she basically said, yeah I know its shit but its all the
mafias fault. Apparently they had some kick-ass original
venue sorted but the mafia objected to some english cunts
moving in on their scene so they had a bit of a barney and,
hey presto, a crappy small jazz club with 1 beer server
instead. Hmmm, is seriosuly making me reconsider ever going
to debeat again (have been 2 out of 3 times).
Italian (non-bitz) chicks are fucking hot tho......

thats what I said to her "yeah right the mafia, you just
fucked up the numbers" but she insisted that wasnt the case
and, come to think of it saturday was pretty packed, and the
jazz club was in a really shitty area too. Very nice bird
(remembered her from dedbeat) even sorted me out with the
MDMA too ;)

they'll know for next time where to put it...i mean they
were constantly turning the volume down cos aperantly
someone had problems with loud music and they were sending
police (at least that's what some were saying). a festival
(of electronic music) just doesnt fit into residential area,
at least not the night part...they were saying something
about having a bigger event some time april or so and it'd
be great if they sort it out by then, cos i'd definitely go
again, ofcourse if the lineup is going to be at least as
great as this one. it was pretty hardcore music lineup, no
easy listening stuff (except for mum, boom bip and some
others) which is my cup of tea...

one way is to get a premium account
and the other to ask someone with premium account to post
them for you :)
