How is it to be someone holding power here ?
did you noticed more respect from others ? is it hard to
close thread ( for example ) of someone who you like here ?

I'm spending more time here since I became a moderator, but
that isn't because I'm a moderator, just that I got more
frequent net access at around the same time.

I haven't really noticed more respect with regard to
"non-modding" things since I became a moderator. For example
people still criticise my taste in music, correct me when
I'm wrong, etc. same they always have. I like this, it's
good that people can still treat me like a normal board
member since I became a Mod. Had Dolleater told me to fuck
off this morning with regard to say, my opinion of an album,
he wouldn't be banned. It was his criticism of a
"moderating" decision I made that got him banned.

It can be hard to close threads or ban people if you like
them, but you have to be fair across the board, I know
several board members in real life, but I would still ban
them if they were being dicks.

Oh yes and with regard to closing topics, we tend not to
give specifics as people will try to get away with stuff
they know they can't and then lawyeristically say, "oh, but
there is nothing in the faq/you didn't tell us we couldn't".
We expect people to exercise a degree of judgement when
using the board- don't post links to anything that could
cause offence or get someone in trouble at work without
warning them, don't reopen closed topics (making the same or
releated topic again), if you're banned don't creat e anew
account to complain, email us instead etc.

If you think a moderator/webmaster has been unfair, mail us,
don't post it on the board, that'll just make them more keen
to ban you.

Don't post links to pirated material, etc.

All sorts of reasons really, people usually know they're
doing something wrong. By all means have a joke, but don't
go posting 5 nonsense topics in under an hour. Remain civil
when debating, don't resort to name calling. Show us your
new tracks, but don't post several a day or keep bumping the
same thread every two minutes.
