Has anyone else noticed this when they're wearing closed
back headphones?

Sometimes, when it's very quiet (usually late at night) and
you have no music or sound playing, you can hear your
heartbeat in your head, just as if it was coming out
of both headphones without panning?

I'm guessing it's something to do with the pressure of the
earpieces causing you to feel a gentle pulse in your ears.

The only time I get anything similair is when I push myself
too hard in exercising and nearly black out and you get that
mad adrenaline heartbeat in your head and your hearing goes
like it's underwater.

yeah.

you can hear it when you just plug your ears too.
especially if you have been doing something very physical
like running or humping or wanking.

or, if its realllly quiet, you can hear a high, soft hum.

I believe thats your spinal chord.... or something.

probably cuz its always loud enough to hear, but you never
notice it cuz of other interference. when you plug your
ears or cover them it blocks out some of the interference.

Or when you are really drunk lying down and you feel the
warm sensation of pissing yourself, but you can't be
bothered moving. One of the nicest feelings in the world
until you wake up in the morning.

I've never pissed myself when drunk, no matter how out of it
I am I manage to find a toilet (or at least a handy hedge or
shop doorway *ahem*).

Having a slash in your wetsuit is nice in winter though.
I'll stop there before this turns into some deviant sexual
talk...

It's one of those sounds you hear in an anechoic chamber,
right?

I have a habit of fallen asleep and dreaming of being in the
toilet, then waking up to find I am pissing myself and I
relaly can't be bothered moving, it is so warm and natural.
:P

I've had that headphone thing though.

My brother pissed in his mates closet when we went on the
lash before and stayed at his house. In his stupor he must
of thought the small boxy walk in cupboard was a toilet
cubicle :)

Evolume: I'm not skinny and I can see a pulse in my forearms
after working out.

When I am pissed i a mates house and I don't know where the
toilet is I just piss in the sink...I really am quite a
disgusting person when you think about it.

"It's one of those sounds you hear in an anechoic chamber,

yeah, thats where I was told about it... that john cage went
into one, and could hear it. My teacher was telling me the
story, and that it was his spinal chord or something. I dont
remember.. this was like 4-5 years ago when he told this
story.

Ive experianced it... but like evolume said... in my case
its probably just tennitis

It probably was in Cages case. Or it could have been his
ego emitting a gentle hum.

its also really annoying when the cord rubs against
something and that sound gets sent right to your ear like
one of those... tin-can-telephone things you made in
elementary school
