The only help that would actually be any would be if you came up here and sorted it out for me! It's in a pitiful state. My bad back stops me from doing all but the basics of mowing the lawn, and for the last year I haven't even done that. It really is shocking. And I can't afford to get anyone in to sort it. £360 was the cheapest I got quoted! Fuck that, it'll stay a mess. |

I'm in Cumbria :( and the bloke who quoted 360 reckoned 1 really mad day, or two. There's a 6 foot high lawn to mow (or at least it's more like six foot across since the grass is so tall it can't support it's own weight :D) trees to trim, weeds to remove, hedges to trim, flowers (if there's any left alive) to remove and then there's all the rubbish to skip away. Didn't seem like 360 quids worth to me but then I'm no gardener. I hate it! :D |

Hmm, part of the cost would be skipping it (they'd need to hire a skip and even if they had their own, they'd need to pay for disposal). Cumbria is a bit far for me to come from S. Wales, which is a shame as I'd like to help. If you have any mates locally who'd be prepared to do it, my advice would be to use a strimmer on the grass first, knock it all down, them mow it to pick it all up. I'd say screw the surviving flowers and start from scratch. If you don't have a half decent strimmer and your mower doesn't have a collection bag/bin on it (to pick up cuttings) I think you'll probably have to fork out for it. £360 does sound a lot, but if the job requires specialist tools (like big petrol driven strimmers, skips, petrol hedge trimmers, chainsaw for tree, etc.) they rape you on the price as they know you can't do it yourself. Seriously, if it's still not done by Easter (and you remember to remind me!), I could come up for a couple of days to do it for you so long as you had the tools needed/were prepared to hire them locally. |

I don't know anyone up here who might help out and I can guarantee it won't be done before easter! I have a strimmer (just a regular one), some crappy shears and a lawnmower. If I can hire anything else that's needed, and you're really serious about helping out, I'd be chuffed to bits if you did! It'll be a long while before I can afford to sort it out. It's a pretty distance to go though just to do this. My brother now lives in Newport and after having been there and back a couple of times already I've discovered it's not a fantastic journey! |

I really enjoy my garden and the thought of someone not being able to spend time in theirs makes me want to help. |
