Is there a record you've owned or listened to that's not necessarily 'timeless', but sounds like it could have been recorded a century ago ?
To me, Talk Talk's late 80's albums definitely qualify.

I think that Confield is another example.
It's composed of 'synthetic' instrumentation, true, but the arrangements are so damn different, and Autechre's production sense so completely seperate from most in the IDM game, that it sounds somewhere beyond our lifetime.
In which direction, I don't know...

OK, maybe I didn't phrase it well...
What I meant was a recording that sounds like it could have came from two centuries ago, or two centuries from now.
OK, so maybe that does, to some extent, warrant also being considered 'timeless'.

Alright, I'll explain the question:
Is there an album (any length) that you think has a sound quality or a vibe, that could've been reproduced a couple of centuries ago, or a couple of centuries from now ?
'Timeless' just gets used too much where I hang out (messageboard - wise), so I trying to check out music that's off in its own world, in a way.

why?
its techniq is so incredible it looks from the future

I think an album can only be "timeless" if it's initially original and it's style isn't imitated. So I might well call Confield timeless. Exit Planet Dust was pretty original at the time, but the style was copied too much and now it's just old.
I'd opt for albums like "Pure Phase" by Spiritualized, the first Tindersticks album, "Here Come the Warm Jets" by Brian Eno, the soundtrack to "Forbidden Planet". And probably others too.
I nominate these, not cos they're fantastic or super-special or genius or anything (though I love them all), but cos they're going to stand the test of time.
Today's "idm" music can be created by almost anyone with a home computer and a bit of talent - and sometimes not even that. So everyone makes a lot of music easily, that sounds very good, but very similar. This is what makes Autechre so unique. They produce contemporary music that's just that little bit different that can't really be mimicked with any sort of success, pushing the boundaries of modern music (which is a wanky expression, but justified in this case). So, whether you like them or not, they stand out as being ageless; inspiring others but never getting lost in the rush to mimic.

xeceque: I'd have to agree with most of your choices, with the possible substitution of Lazer Guided Melodies with Pure Phase.
And I'd take Here Come The Warm Jets over Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) [at least, in this category] any day.
