Mine is a tie between Walter and Jesus.

Dude gets an honourable mention.

I was watching this only last night as it happens. It has to
be Walter with the Dude a close second and Brand (?) the
butler third.

How can you guyz pick Jesus? He's only in it for about two
minutes.

the Dude really has the right idea about how to live life. I
thought Walter was really annoying on the frst viewing, but
then I realised he is kinda right all the way through. The
butler guy (Brandt?)gives an underrated performance too "No,
that had not occurred to us, Dude." I always found him
really funny.

OK, I'll start the quotes:

"Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism
Dude, AT LEAST its an ethos".

Walter. The Dude is great and Jesus the obvious
show-stealer, but he's hardly in it. Walter just cracks me
up throughout the picture. "Dude are you fucking this
up!?!!"

Yes, Jesus is hardly in it, but still nothing quite beats
his lines and especially the delivery.
Sometimes i just want to see his scenes in Lebowski.

Then you need to see Mike Leigh's 'Naked' (if you haven't
already). A totally different character but an amazing
performance by David Thewlis. Its a shame he's not followed
it up with anything decent.

offline johnnyboy from Estonia on 2003-09-25 07:33 [#00877811]

David Thewlis is great.
But John Turturro is even better.

As much as I love all the characters, I still have to go
with the Dude. "She's not my special lady, she's my fuckin
ladyfriend."

Brandt comes close though. "THAT's marvelous."

That film really has one of the best scripts ever! The
characters are so well written and there are so many
brilliant lines it puts most scriptwriters to shame!

Its the Dude all the way for me, though Donnie deserves a
mention, "Donnie who loved bowling".

I hope their new film is good, im a bit unsure about it,
seems like a very mainstream flick for them.

Does anyone know why they kind of diss kraftwerk in that
movie? The nihilists are a german band. The female artist
whose name i cant remember says they make sort of "techno
pop". They are called "autobahn". They wear red shirts and
black ties on the cover.... it doesnt get more obvious!!!
its strangeeee....

I worked out what the translation of the album title is for
that (yes im a geek) but i've forgetten what it says :(

I thinks its a quite funny joke myself. kraftwerk do seem to
take thenselves very seriously ;)

the dude deffinately.

but i also really like The Dude's landlord marty.

"I'm performing my dance quintet...I'd love it if you came
and gave me notes."

or that cop who gives Dude his car back.

"We'll get the boys down at the crime lab to work on it.
they got 4 other officers working on the case.. they got us
working in shifts!.. Leads..."

i love that fucking movie.

my favorite movie ever.

i disagree. Donnie is an essential character played
skillfully and masterfully by Buscemi.

"Who's in pajama's walter?"

Steve Buscemi was great in it. I mean he couldn't of done it
any better, that's the way his character was written, and he
made the most of it.

I saw an interview with the Coen brothers and they said they
intentionally gave Steve Buscemi a character who doesn't
talk much because his character in their film Fargo talked
constantly.

I did find the joke funny to myself.

Autobahn means those big roads that a lot of cars drive on!
(is it called a motorway!?!?!)
Auto= Car
Bahn= Road, Path

In the song they say "fahren fahren fahren, auf die
autobahn". It just means theyre riding there!!!
Dont ask me how i know this.

the whole experience. I fuckin love the movie with all my
