They've really been fitting my ears lately. Maybe it's
because i've only been listening to video game music lately,
but I have been in the process of writing a track of at
least 7 minutes in length over the past week that is all
organs (melodically anyways)

it's definitely going to be much different than what i've
been doing lately, which is good, cause i think i'm ready
for another change. all i need now is a dark damp castle and
a flock of bats and i'll be a crazy person.

My favorite organ is the pancreas. Very powerful.

My parents had this HUGE Hammond Organ when I was a
kid...the BASS you could get out of that thing was
amazing...

(pity the rest of the sounds were all pretty shitty/cheesy
really...)...

Yeah...hammonds rule.
Check Green Onions by Booker T & The MG's for more Organ
loveliness.
Or the new compilation thing on Soul Jazz records of Jackie
Mitoo tracks.

i saw a $5000 wurlitzer at a local music shop a couple of
years back - fucking lush. the guy who owned the store even
said that if i brought $1000 that day it was mine. too bad i
didn't have $1000.

I love organs! Defintely an underused (and often MISused
instrument).

Kefka's big statue at the end of FF6... now there's some
badass organ-ing!

Other than that, I'm a fan of the seminal vesicles.

Richard Wright was the organ king!!

Yeah I love organs, expcept fairground organs and all that
umpah umpah crap. Hammonds are great, especially the B3
organ. The range of sounds is brilliant. If you can, check
out any stuff or compilations by Keb Darge for some real
classic rare funky hammond, for example "the new
mastersounds" and also hes got a jap import compilation of
beams records with loads of funky( with a capital F), funky
hammond fun.
Also prog rock hammonds are proper bo i tell thee, examples
include van der graaf generator, frank zappa, emerson alke
and palmer. and many more.

As for cathedral organ music, I recommend JS Bach,
especially Great fantasia and fugue, and toccata and fugue
in E (i think). This guy is a genius. A couple of months
ago, there was a series of 10 minute shows on BBC2 showing
Bach's best work played on reconditioned organs that he
onced used, was brilliant, was called 21st century bach.
anyone catch it?
