Dire Straits - Money for Nothing.
The best ballady "classic" soft rock type album ever.
Beautiful lyrics, fantastic musicians...

all i have to say to you is listen to jazz...
there are so many different offshoots and they are so
incredibly vital... start with whatever is easiest to get
into and take it from there... probably one of the best ways
to get into it is to listen to Miles Davis... and then
listen to all the records his sidemen put out under their
own names, and with others... and then listen to all the
records that their associates put out...

if you want other worldly, the obvious place to start
"Bitches Brew", or "in a Silent Way"... if you want classic
beautiful, and a little more close to traditional jazz, go
with "Kind of Blue"

weatheredstoner: 'Trace' is a really good album, thanks for
mentioning it on the board. if i hadn't heard about it from
you i would have never given it a proper listen... though
it's far from being my all-time fav, sorry :)

choosing #1 CD is the thing that beyond me. it's like
choosing the favorite finger on both hands. i'm waving
between these:

-Faith No More - Angel Dust
-Squarepusher - Hard Normal Daddy
-Type O Negative - World Coming Down
-Weather Report - Heavy Weather...
...and some 100 of others, so i might as well choose this
one:

-MINISTRY - 'PSALM 69'... not because it's my #1 (though it
definitely makes my Top 10), but simply because this
awesome, simple, powerful and irresistible album is WAY
underrated imho... this 45-minute thing of a perfect sound
deserves much more attention than it really has.

Excellent. It wasn't my favorite at first because drukqs was
holding the 'first place' for a long while. "Trace" is a lot
to stomach on the first listen, there is a LOT in there to
experience. But it flows together so nicely its hard to only
listen to one or two tracks at a time. I feel dirty if I
dont listen to the entire thing straight through.
