here
a safe browsercheck is performed, unfortunately it's in
german, here's a short description:

exploiting a bug in the newest (=latest official update +
restart) internet explorer these guys copy a
'browsertest.exe' into your main directory (C:\).

everyone who finds this file on his comp after visiting the
page should seriously consider changing browser.

the new mozilla 1.5 is safe, but there are more out there,
dunno details though

the test is safe but imagine, that exe could contain
everything

Do I have to click on something else to get tested? I'm
running Mozilla 1.4 on Windows.

yep, try with IE if you have it

And with IE: "Sie sind verwundbar!"

Which I take it is German for "things are not so good for
you eh my friend"

yep, look at your c:\ directory, there is an exe there and
it has been executed - the warning message, in english 'you
are vulnurable' (i think)

Do you have a router/firewall (like you know a box that
comes between your computer and DSL modem) or are you using
a software firewall? If you're using software I recommend
Sygate Personal Firewall, which is free and unlike ZoneAlarm
is actually stable.

if you're on 56k you won't be targeted by other users,
you'll only get viruses etc from dodgy sites. on broadband,
all these are a must.

trust no-one :)

You must be a h4X0r encouraging people to let down their
guard.

I mean sure ya can't run a warez site off someone's 56k
connection but you might be able to extract interesting
passwords, credit card numbers, etc etc

Trust no one, not even dobbin!

software. hardware seems a bit ott, im only a single user.
zonealarm is a nightmare, sygate was awkward & didnt like
norton a-v auto-protect running so i went for norton
firewall. needs updating daily though, although thats not
much of a problem.

i did get annoyed that a trojan got through and attached
itself to my java plug-in last week.
