she's okay.

doesn't blow me away though.

and I must say I'm getting oversaturated by Neptunes stuff
by now.

but, but... but the neptunes give her their best beats?!
have you in fact heard, perchance own a copy of, her debut
album 'kaleidescope'? it's really pretty special. i'm not
sure if i'm crazy about the new single but the song she did
produced by Doc last year ("so be it" from the red hot +
riot compilation) is one of her best ever!

yes I did hear it - don't own it. like I said, I thought it
was okay, not great.

it's just, the Neptunes are EVERYWHERE!! especially here, in
the Netherlands.

anything they do, it gets played to death.

I do have respect for Neptunes though - like any good
producer they have a wide musical taste. there was a short
documentary on them on Dutch television, and Pharell was
going on about Stereolab, how great they were.

I guess it's just too bad they're so "hip" overhere now. and
too, TOO bad they still do stuff with that annoying ASS
Nelly. man.. that guy is boring.

better than wanderland?

disappeared again are you! i'd have ever talked to you if i
had known you were a popular thug!

qrter i definitely agree the neptunes are overexposed and
they do work with some wack artists but certain artists like
kelis bring out the best in them IMO

*never

it's ok qrter i don't expect everyone to be fans, it's not
like i go out buy an album cos the neptunes produced a track
(or even the whole album; see clipse and philly's most
wanted). but for every 5 shite tracks they unload i think
there's a brilliant one and kelis gets a lot of 'em.

I agree with you.

they do now and then make good stuff.

but the crap they produce can be annoying as hell (as just
about anything they produce seems to become an instant hit
these days..).

titsworth I think you're getting a little overexcited about
this girl.. she has an intelligence and a sophistication
where a void is in almost every other (read: ghetto) female
r&b singer .. but there's nothing really special about her
voice or her songs.. and the neptunes.. as good as they
are.. are more overexposed than any artist in the history of
the world.. EVER right now...

have you heard the story about nas, kelis and jacob the
jewler? it's GREAT!

how am i "overexcited"? i just said i wasn't really feeling
the new single and that i haven't heard the album. i like
her voice and her offbeat style, and as i said, the neptunes
give her their craziest stuff.

yea, nas and a million other emcees bought overpriced rocks
from ol' jacob the jew(eler) and now they're bitching.
shouldn't have been so shallow, fuckas..

I think the Basement Jaxx new album has better beats and
better evolution from previous albums than the Neptunes do.
They are getting stale.

Kelis kicks ass... she is a great vocalist no doubt about
it. Some of her lyrics can be shady/cheezy but she's fun. I
like her on Richard X's new album, I love "Milkshake" and
"So Be It." I didn't really like her Timo Maas
collaboration, because of Timo, not Kelis. I think she's
still got a lot of growing to do and will get better and
better.

i just heard "milk shake" for the first time (yeah, i know
she has probably a new album out already hahaha) and it's
extremly catchy. i like it a lot.

anyway, is the album "milk shake" is from worth getting or
not? are there at least 3 other tunes that i could enjoy?

Ye, Premo's right, as always with his interlude speeches.
Anyway, a nice adventitious circumstance is that Kelis
doesn't even have to take off her clothes to be damn sexy
and keep one's eyes glued to the screen unlike the majority
of female singers nowadays. Tbh quite honest I'm getting
annoyed by the half pornographic videos of late, especially
when you read the intention behind it and notice how it
works too.
