re.set on 2001-11-12 03:46 [#00050837]

it might just be an acid flashback, but for some reason i
remember reading somewhere about some album made using only
nintendo samples; a compilation featuring some well
known/yet "underground" electronic artists. can't think of
the title of the album, any of the artists involved or what
label it was released on, if it was even released at all.
does any of this vague info ring a bell with anyone, if even
only a vague quiet bell?

sorry I don't have any info but your hint sounds absolutely
great!! you know many of us are Nintendo lovers... that
description of that album souds like a good acid wet dream!

Does anyone know what synths nintendo used on the early
games such as mario bros?

will from trinidad on 2001-11-12 04:42 [#00050868]

dosle from technodump.com on 2001-11-12 04:59 [#00050877]

thing that was never as popular... I had Mortal Kombat for
the original gameboy... now that was fun!!! :)

Ophecks on 2001-11-12 05:07 [#00050886]

I have Blades of Steel for Gameboy, and I still have it for
NES.
I shoot the puck from center ice so my opponent can't see
his goalie. I'm a prick.

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-12 05:08 [#00050887]

Yeah I had that for gameboy... I used to win every game by
like 20 or 30 to nothing... :)

Ophecks on 2001-11-12 05:09 [#00050889]

And Castevania, I couldn't beat ANY Castlevania without a
Game Genie, they were too bloody HARD!!!!!

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-12 05:11 [#00050891]

I had Kirby's Dreamland for gameboy... that was a cool

kagillion messages today!!!! :)

thats what it is...

Taxi on 2001-11-12 08:05 [#00050904]

Another nice looking peice of music gen for the gameboy is
the LSDj cartridge. I have been looking into buying one of
these things recently...

http://www.littlesounddj.com/

they also have links to a bunch of artist sites from gameboy
musicians. Some of the shit they have up is dope.

andreas.de from paris, france on 2001-11-12 08:37 [#00050908]

for nintendo music check out the group "teamtendo" who
perform live with some vintage gameboy gear.

if you are into some 4bit sound, check out
http://www.micromusic.net where you will also find tracks
from rephlex artists as bodenstaendig2000, lektrogirl and
cylob!

Archrival from NYC on 2001-11-12 08:56 [#00050909]

If you like nintendo music and game music in general you
better chek the GAME OVER compilations 1 and 2.

Its a hip hop compilation with two producers DJ RObone and
Domingo making beats with only video game samples (MCs on
the comp is KRS One, Big Daddy KAne, JEru The Damaja, Heltah
Skeltah etc etc)

Chek it out!!I know you will LOVE IT!!! ITS DOPE!!!

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-12 09:50 [#00050912]

I still got an original gameboy... bit faded though. Best
game was Zelda, link to the past.... beats everything

boxrocket on 2001-11-12 10:06 [#00050915]

Jeesh guys, the poster asked a question and only one person
replying makes even a reference to it. It's really all about
ME here isn't it? :) The cd you're talking about was
mentioned on joyrex, look for it archived under the topic
Nintendo sounds. You will probably have to go back a few
weeks but it's there.

Fernz on 2001-11-12 15:15 [#00050996]

Shit, those were the days. I remember when Super Mario World
for SNES was the dogs bollox...

Bout those nintendo trax, there is one track on Analogue
Bubblebath 3 that sounds like that stuff but only the intro.
Wouldnt mind gettin a hold of that album with them tunes on
it tho. :)

Ophecks on 2001-11-12 16:10 [#00051031]

The Castlevania series has AMAZING tunes, I swear to god.

Dirty Priest from Denmark on 2001-11-12 18:41 [#00051109]

SERIUS ANSWER HERE!!!!!

i think you might be thinking about the hardcore beat
programmer from Atari teenage riot, Alec Empire, he made an
entire album on some fucked up gameboy program. its pretty
wicked. and also pretty rare to even get a hold on some alec
empire.

Alec empire: Nintendo teenage riot (We punk einheit!!!)

Check out: www.digitalhardcore.com

and just check out alec empire and/or atari teenage riot.
theyre the most hardcore band ever!!!!

Dirty Priest from Denmark on 2001-11-12 18:44 [#00051110]

Sorry, the album is entitled "Nintendo teenage ROBOTS"....

=)

Taxi on 2001-11-12 20:14 [#00051156]

Alec empire?

Jeez

dronox from www.dronox.com on 2001-11-12 21:56 [#00051219]

That nintendo teenage robots album is awful- It was about 10
or 12 songs made on the gameboy camera, and most of them
sounded Identical.

I hated it.
[I'm huge on 8bit music, but give that album a whopping
dronox thumbs down, but not like my opinion cares :P ]

Quadrapelegicrobotikev from mp3.com/quadrapelegicrobotik on 2001-11-13 00:50 [#00051272]
