If i didn't shave my legs..how long would it grow and how
quick would it grow that long???and would it be gross to
grow it , just to see how long it woul dget - i'd obviously
shave it off after a while and once it was at a suitble
length.

you've got to have something more interesting to say. what's
your first memory? what would you consider your most prized
possession? if you were to die today who would you want to
be the last person you spoke to?

shaving isn't cool.
Though some people think it's fly.

I really like you, anon,
and it would be cool if you grew some hair.

my leg-hair length doesnt change - is something wrong with
me and my hair?

anon, it depends on how quickly your hair grows naturally.
The more you shave hair the quicker it grows back, and
usually more of it.

when you shave.

titsworth - i dont have anything mor interesting to say.
i dont know my 1st memory,
i don't have a ost prized possesion because *everything* i
keep is because of sentimental value....
if i was to die tomorrow the last person i'd want to have
spoken to ( presuming ive allready spoken to my familly as i
live with them) is murray.

Key - thank you ... i will keep you up-dated.

tolstoyed- no ... not reall yi guess,i wouldn't know i shave
my legs - thats why im curious as to how long i gets.

marlowe - so if i left it would it grow long??or stop at a
certain point?

I have never shaved my legs. In 31 years my leg hair has got
no longer than about 1 cm.

that is an old wives tale based on the fact that when young
people start shaving their faces or legs, they generally
start at the beginning of puberty. by the end of puberty,
their bodies are producing larger amounts of testosterone or
other hormones responsible for hair growth and therfore the
hair is growing in quicker and fuller.

you'll be surprised how much more interesting and enjoyable

leg hair (and armpit hair, eyebrow hair, eyelashes...etc)
grows to a certain length and then breaks off or falls out.

offline evolume from seattle (United States) on 2003-09-16 16:15 [#00865915]

average length? hmm..

i did a little research and found out that body hair grows
in 3 phases.
the anagen phase or the growth phase.
the catogen phase or transition phase.
and the telogen or resting phase.

the anagen phase lasts about 1 to 6 months for course body
hair, and 4 - 8 years for scalp hair. During this time the
hair grows. about 0.27mm per day for body hair and 0.44mm
per day for the scalp.
the catagen phase is a transitionary phase between anagen
and telogen phase and lasts 1-2 weeks.
During the Telogen phase the hair does not grow. it just
rests for 2 - 4 months untill it falls out or is pushed out
by another hair entering the anagen phase.

so there you go.

but why not? is finding shaved legs attractive purely
influenced by cultural bias? or is cultural bias based on
some deep rooted evolutionary advantage. maybe hairlessness
is a kind of trait for showing vulnerability, like to
weather, for example. a male is might be more inclined to
protect a vulnerable female so she in turn is more likely to
carry offspring to term and therefore ensure the propagation
of the species.

so maybe your preference for shaved women is just a
manifestation of your species' evolutionary success.

well if you do a little math.
your body hair grows at 0.27mm per day. for 1-6months.

or about 8.1mm per month. this is probably regulated by
hormones and such. a woman is probably at the lower end of
the scale and a really hairy man, say Robin Williams
probably has some body hair that approaches 5 cm in length.

also, on an unrelated note, i find it funny that anon's

i guess emotional support is less important than leg-hair

well all you have to do is a little algebra.

if scalp hair grows at about 0.44mm per day, and your hair
is currently at 2cm from your eyebrow, you need to grow for
x days to achieve 2cm or 20 mm right.

so:

(0.44mm) (Xdays) = 20mm

X = 20mm/0.44mm/day
X = 45.5 days

your hair will reach your eyebrows in 45 days or so.
i don't know the distance to your ears but i would guess it
will take about 90 to 120 days depending on the size of your
head.
