i luv this guy!!!

i bought his new album called "radio blackout" today and i
totally love it
he's becoming one of my favourite electronic musicians
really fast

"radio blackout" is definitely one of my top3 albums this
year...really energetic stuff - especially track "the game
is not over" featuring miss kittin (i think she's his
girlfriend btw)
for those that are not familiar with his music, it is a
mixture of techno, electro, even glitch, pretty intense
stuff and very rhythmic
he's also awesome when it comes to live shows, going wild
and really enjoying himself while playing

(the album also includes 4 videos!)

anyone has any thoughts on "radio blackout"?

majority of tracks is very similar to his previous album,
but there are also 3 tracks on the end of this new album, a
bit different from the rest
-one is hip hop alike, featuring MC SOOM T (my least
favourite piece of this album, doesnt quite fit this album
imo)
-then ambiental one, totally diferent to anything i've heard
by him so far, but really nice!
-and the last one is almost like something done by matmos,
only more intense - brilliant tune

pretty unique in style i think, perhaps a lot like matmos
but with techno/electro beats

some great tracks but the overall sounding is too commercial
for me.
game is not over --> one of teh best club tunes this year

he's really popular in this parts, isnt he? hehe

yeah, it sounds a bit commercial, tho if you give it a
better listen it gives a different feel to it

btw, when you mention club tunes - do you perhaps know tune
with vocal sample that goes "dance like a machine" and it
has kind of the same structure as "game is not over"?

has anyone heard rabaukendisko?
it's pretty intense, there are 4 on it - 2 dance hall
remixes by the bug - these two sound much alike originals
but with less straight beats and there are those ragga
vocals bug loves to use.
and there's a video on it as well.

the one i have is a cd with 11 tunes and 4 videos (titled
video killed the radio star):
-monstertruckdriver
-rabaukendisko
-wir kinder vom bahnhof strom
-radio blackout

that "rabaukendisko" ep (only 17 minutes tho) is quite nice
as well, quite a bit harder to "radio blackout", especially
cuz of those two bug's mixes. and there's the video
"rabaukendisko" - same version as on radio blackout tho.

I really like monstertruckdriver. Heard it a couple of times
on the radio, and each time i felt it was over way too soon.
Great track! Is the rest of the album like that one?

hmm, i don't think too high of monstertruckdriver, i prefer
some others much more. check "the game is not over",
"querstromzerspaner" or "musick boy". all three are are very
much alike "monstertruckdriver", and there are some other
tunes that are alike. there are only like 3 or 4 tracks a
bit different to his classic formula, i especially like
those two ambiental ones.

im listening to his "the great rock'n'roll swindle" album at
the moment and this one is probably most suitable for idm
fans.

i listened to his last album Anti... and it didn't sound all
that great... he sounds like a really cool idea on paper...
maybe i'll check him out again...

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-01-25 17:45 [#01048589]

it's not as much music to listen to as it is music to dance
to :)

not sure what "anti" you mean - is this that 4 song release?
i think it's called "rabaukendisko" actually.

no, it's an album... came out on shitkatapult in 2002, i
believe...

you're right...that's the one im missing so i can't really
tell if it's any different to his other stuff, but i doubt
that since the other 3 releases i have are all pretty
similar. his last album was released in 2003 though :)

i can't get over how good 'drown in the sea while watching
the stars' is. its nice to hear something a bit different.
its obvious the guy is doing exactly what he wants and not
what other people necessarily want to hear. thats the way it
should be.
