I'm dumb.

just kidding...

uh, yeah I learn lots of stuff that I use in my music... I
havnt even gotten into my advanced composition classes
yet... so I can only imagine it will help even more within
the next 2-3 years (duel majors do 5 years... im starting my
third now)

offline big from lsg on 2003-09-14 18:18 [#00862810]

and vagina skills, sure

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-09-14 18:24 [#00862818]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

oh, my instrument skills...

well... when I first started writing, knowing the drums
helped me alot I think... (seeing as so much electronic
music is beat driven).

I had been playing drums for about 2-3 years before I
started to write music (end of 8th grade, beggining of 9th
grade)

I taught myself really... I then taught myself how to read
notation and to play the bass, in 11th grade... but then I
took actual lessons on the bass in 12th grade, as well as
music theory lessons...

So I had been writing a good 3-4 years, self taught before I
took any theory... and the bass was after wards as well...

I actually dont play instruments much anymore... im really
into producing/sound design/ composition...

as far as the keyboard... it helps in being able to twiddle
around with ideas... but in reality... I wouldnt need the
help of instruments to write any of my music...

Actually, we grow in the UTERUS, then pass through the
vagina...It's a place we all come from and want to get back
to as often as possible...

;)

you dont need to hear it then? in a mozart kind of way?

i'll learn how to play drums for my compositioning skills,
rhythm is the hardest part i guess for me, for coming up
with good melodies

I heard it from Robin Williams from his interview on "Inside
The Actor's Studio", but I can't remember off-hand who said
it to him...

though it involves a vagina i dont think it to be that funny
anymore..

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-09-14 18:35 [#00862832]

what do you mean?

Mozart heard it all in his head... he didnt need instruments
to hear it

I sometimes hear stuff in my head... but usually i write on
the computer... thats where I hear it from

so would you all go as far as to say you're a master of the
vaginal medium?

big: i think if you really want to improve your melodic
skills... to try to learn piano

its a big help

offline big from lsg on 2003-09-14 18:50 [#00862857]
Points: 23729 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

i've had a year of lessons but wont be arsed to read music
anymore, i just cant do it
so i'm learning myself further now, will get a keyboard or
something
i have written a little track recently, playing 6/8
appachios left hand and a melody right: that was a good
improvement of myself i thought
i usually play guitar

offline Zeus from San Francisco (United States) on 2003-09-14 18:55 [#00862862]
Points: 14042 Status: Lurker

ah

well, if you play guitar, and have played piano...

to help with melodies... Id suggest just listening to alot
of melodic music for starter...

:)

as i said with the rhythm, i listen to complex rhythm stuff,
like idm and then try to get up with better melodies then
they sometimes have. i'm afraid of copiing

you dont need to learn musical notation to be a great
musician, you just need to be a god, or just and idea-ist.

care how you write yours
