i was thinking of a different kind of remix project.

the way it would work is i would take the samples for the
ambient track i just wrote then post them, and have people
remix it. the twist is that i wouldn't post the original
song till the remixes are done.

if anybody is interested post in this thread.

well the samples are here for the song "everyone
i've ever hated is dead". remix them if you like, there's
no deadline...i'll probably just bump this thread every once
in a while.

thanks.

the thread die?

I did one right here.

Those samples are really good on their own as minimal
compositions. Played all together it's really thick but
maybe overkill. I can't make nice sounding melody like that
on a piano or something. I have to rely on the aestheticish
complexity of rounds and stuff like I did in my remix. I've
been "studying" the music from pocky and rocky (snes game)
and think most of my melodies sound stupid because usually
in that game's music 1) only the white keys are used and 2)
most of the melodies are on keys quite near eachother,
mostly just raising or lowering 1 key. both of these I
rarely did.

I'd possibly have a go but the samples Zip comes up as a
FILE NO FOUND. wMw your remix sounded quite a lot like a
bunch of samples stuck together... quite pleasant but more
in a 20 seconds kind of way than a 2 minutes way.

I totally agree. It's very low tech. If there wasn't the
round, it would sound very lame, plus it is too long. The
whole thing actually loops twice, but I didn't spend time
polishing or shortening this or even making the ending be
something that didn't just cut off. I might be able to email
you the mp3s, that is if they are under 1000k.

sorry i would have posted these sooner but i was busy
getting into a car accident tonight. :(

samples v2.0

i'll probably post some of the mixes so far in this thread.

qrter, the thing with the original song is that it doesn't
really loop at any point so i simply cut out a few bars of
multiple tracks. i then realized this wasn't too great of
an idea then made the samples in the 2.0 pack not so much
directly from the song, but just representative of the chord
progression.

my hopes are that people use them as more of a resource to
fuck up, than a reconstruction of the song by looping and
layering them all.

here's 2 example mixes:
mix 1 mix 2
