GRRRRRRRM
excerpt that just CHAPS my ass!!!!
"According to the New York Times, Ticketmaster plans later this year to begin auctioning off the best concert seats to the highest online bidders.
The paper says there would be no limit on how high prices could go - it would be simply a matter of how much people were willing to pay. "
this really is TOO MUCH.....why do they wanna keep music for just the few who can pay the outrageous prices!!! why?!?!??!

fortunetly, most of the crap bands I listen to sell tickets themselves, or through the venue, so there is less less of me getting screwed.
however, that definetly IS lame, as if they don't earn enough for being a middle man to hand out tickets........
fuck 'em!

I think it's probably due to the increase in people buying up tickets then just ebaying them- the ticket sellers see it (auctioning) as something that they can get in on... With Glastonbury tickets going in under 2 hours and many people buying them on ebay at inflated prices, it was only a matter of time :(
If any good comes out of this, it'll be that it forces more people to go to smaller, lesser known act's shows and hence might allow some new acts to breakthrough. I know I've certainly gotten into several acts through seeing them in a supporting role or because tickets cost the same amount as normal night club entry.

yea.....it said something to that effect about how things go for 100X the price on ebay.
i have $$ for tix, i work and so i don't have to necessarily worry about it. however i don't think tix should go to the RICHEST peepz, they are not necessarily the BIGGEST fans, any kind of elitism is just WRONG IMO, it's just very sad for the real music fans who don't have large bank accounts!

most of the big shows i go to aren't seated anyway. How much will people be paying for General Admission? not much i would wager.

That is absolutely fucking outrageous. They should be put out of business for even thinking doing that.
Pure fan exploitation. I mean, you already pay more than face-value for tickets these days on booking fee's and delivery when u buy them online....this is a joke.
As someone who buys a lot of tickets for gigs, i find this so infuriating.
