little bit of nostalgia for the best game ever made, with
the best music in any video game, and the best villain ever.

who's with me?

in a fit of nostalgia, i'm trying to beat this game in seven
hours. so far its taken me one hour to get out of midgar...

I agree wholeheartedly... ignoring the greatness of monkey
island 2 and grim fandango for a moment. All the other FF
games sucked, unfortuantly.

still think it deserves mention. so go ahead on the midgar
bombing. it sucks.

FF6 (ff3 in america) was my favorite all time game. I almost
cried at the end when I first played through the whole game.
It was incredibly epic and surreal for its time.

it was too easy.. knights of the round kinda spoiled the
ending. unlike ff2 where it took me 20 tries to kill the
boss, i beat mr. s on the first try.

the only time i used knights of the round was on the ruby
and emerald weapon

ff7 is defintely a favorite of mine, i sort of "grew up" on
it as well. i think during elementary/middle school, thats
all i did. ff7.

i do like the other final fantasies quite a lot. even 8
which most everyone i talk to think it sucks.

ff7 is definitely nostalgia for me. xenogears is up there
for me too.

Haha, holy shit. I was just about to create a topic about
FF7. Not about the game itself, but about some new tidbits
and rumors that have been coming out of Japan
yesterday/today.

And here ya go: sid1062790732,15865,

A remake of FF7 would be pointless. I'm not a graphics
whore, and the gameplay and story were perfectly satisfying
and modern. Not like Metal Gear Solid 1, where a remake
really IS going to make a difference, with the modern
gameplay. Whatever, this is bull anyway.

FF7... I've kind of soured on it over the years. Cloud is
like a dumbed down Squall, and Sephiroth is one of the most
overrated villians ever. He's hardly interesting, and never
struck me as particularly evil (like Kefka!) but everyone
sucks his dick because he looks cool and has a big sword.

I like FF8's story, characters, music (much better sample
quality and more varied styles) and overall style more, but
FF7 had superior gameplay... FF8 had too many failed
experiments. Loved the Materia system (even though you were
basically invincible and the characters all end up mostly
the same, which sucks... except for their limit breaks). The
setting was nice, quasi-futuristic ambience about it...
Midgar blew my mind the first time I was there.

Overall, FF7 is still probably my second fave FF, behind 6.
I criticize it out of love and respect.

Oh yeah, a SEQUEL would suck too. They'd really have to
contrive to find new ideas... and a prequel wouldn't work,
because the game would end at a sour note (because of the
sad state of the planet at the start of FF7), wouldn't be
satisfying. I have no unanswered questions about that game
anyway.

In fact, I'm not crazy about the new FF X-2 either, though
I know I'll buy it. Seems more like FF- T&A. Yuna was also
the most boring FF heroine in history.

*much trepidation

kefka was a pimp boss. so twisted and sick.

Actually, i take back my 'all the other FF games sucked'
statement. 6 was just as good... although 8 9 and 10 just
didn't live up to the expectations set by 7. In my case at
least.

actually, replaying through seven has made me realize how
good eight is. its subtle and nicely designed. sort of like
kid a to ff7's ok computer. yeah...weird analogy.

Final Fantasy VII is my favourite game of all time.

FF8 was a gigantic letdown, it had neither of the things
that a good RPG should ALWAYS have:

Interesting characters
Good/great storyline

i'd like to be able to play ff7 on the pc. i got halfway
through on my ps1 before it broke :(

Squall was interesting! And the other characters had their
place, unlike Cait Sith/Vincent/Yuffie (as fuckable as she
is). Or maybe I'm just biased because Squall said and did
all the things I would have said/done. Except I don't have
beautiful women like Quistis and Rinoa trying to sleep with
me.

:_-(

Hironobu Sakaguchi is a fucking genius, he's my hero, I hope
he never fucking dies. We need to start a fund to help
cryogenically freeze his head for future Final Fantasies....

i like both ff7 and ff8. i like the feel/atmosphere of ff7
much more. 8s story gets a bit too cheesey for me, though.
like I WILL LUV U TIL THE END OF TIME WITH FUZZY BUNIES AND
etc.

the slow motion orchestra fall into your arms thing argh
SOMEONE HIT ME WITH A STEAL PIPE ON THE HEAD

i felt ff7 for the most part was free of that. the fact that
one of the main love interests erm, left, is a bit different
at least.

STILL i like them both and they are both good and i think an
ff7 sequel would be good. most everything square makes that
is rpg is generally good. they have a good reputation
despite the greedy-money-mass produce-exploit interest sorta
thing.

ff7-2 gets a thumbs up for me

ahhh good ol FF...I started with 2 which I think is really
4. I loved all of them with the exception of 9...I thought
they backtracked on it... I just didn't like the whole
hippos and rhinos walking down the street....I guess im
jaded
