other SH games but there is some FUCKED up shit in there.

hospital. man that's a cool game.

Yeah, I've got to get around to playing this. I played it
the first day I got it and made it to the 'dark' world, and
then quit.

Definitely a quality game it looks like thus far.

better, imo....

very creepy....

also have resident evil... though resident evil is more of a
gore fest.

but similar controls and stuff.

yeah, lots of stuff which makes you ask "what the hell is
THIS??"... already the video at the beginning, the first
picture, with two girls (?) maybe hung, you only see the
bottom of their robes, and a demon (??) spinning down... and
all throughout the game, lots of weirdness and evilness you
don't see what it is... not as "classy" and beautiful as the
new Resident Evils, but definitely scarier! : )

(i loved the phone call of the funny crazy old man in the
hospital... ^^)

i just don't like the "architecture" of many of the places,
all places/corridors looking the same with lots of locked
doors and you lose yourself. mostly in the first levels.

offline uzim on 2003-09-06 08:14 [#00852492]

actually i don't play them myself (can't get used to the
controls......), i watch my brother playing them. but in
this kind of games, it's as enjoyable for me to watch than
to play!

(i just hope he won't get the bad ending... i want happy
end...)

I just got it 3 days ago, but I still haven't played it! I
started a new save on Final Fantasy 8 (which I never did
beat, my 4th disc save got erased many years ago), and I
have to beat that first... I'm at Ultimecia Castle so I'll
be plaing the Hill by tomorrow.

I'm almost afraid to play it. I swear, Silent Hill 2 was so
unsettling, that I quit. I really did.

offline uzim on 2003-09-06 18:04 [#00853143]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

ok, saw the (good) ending of it!

i must say... i'm pretty disturbed and intrigued still.
first, the scene you see in the video at the very beginning
and then at the almost ending ("the two girls (?) maybe
hung, you only see the
bottom of their robes, and a demon (??) spinning down"). you
also hear (little girl's) cries (those fucking cries are,
for me at least, the most fucking disturbing fucking thing
of this fucking game) and see phantom footprints before
entering the room where this happens. but it's probably just
here to scare and make the whole thing even more insane.

- the thing that REALLY intrigues me is that (in fact the
basis of the whole story itself):
the god pictured in the books and pictures and stuff seems
to be a good one!! so why all of this, why is it just
this atrocious....... thing when you finally meet him?!
my idea is that it's because it was the crazy Claudia who
tried to summon it, and because she thought hatred was
needed for it... and that influencated it and "turned" the
god into an evil thing... besides she tried to wake it up
too soon maybe, that's why we see it incomplete...

...what do you think?
the ones who finished the game? ' _ '

offline uzim on 2003-09-06 18:32 [#00853174]

damn all i want now is something to cheer me up...
but that's ok i have music. : )

i wish the whole world was happy right now!
just gonna daydream on my cloud!

i think you're right about the claudio making it evil
thing.

all i know is we were playing it and i said "jesus fucking
christ...did she just vomit up a fetus? WHAT THE FUCK DID
SHE JUST EAT IT???".

we beat the game on easy and got the ending where heather
doesn't stab what's-his-face. it was a little too short of
an ending for my tastes.

i think the scariest things in the game where the ones where
you think something's coming up and it never does. it's all
atmospheric like that. like the mannequins and the sideways
wheelchair with blood and a spinning wheel, and that monster
stuck behind the cage in that one part of the dark office
building.

this game gave me some disturbing dreams.

Wow, what an amazing game. I'm having the same problem I had
with Silent Hill 2 though... I'm so creeped out and
intimidated, that playing it is hard on me, physically. I
just got on the train in the subway, had to take a break.

Did you guys get the soundtrack free with the game? Just
wondering, because I did and I thought somebody would
mention it... it's a thing of beauty. EVERY GAME should come
packaged with the soundtrack.

Heather is strangely attractive.

Heather is pretty nice, but i wish she wouldn't always have
her eyes like she was about to cry... - in some of the
artworks on one of the official site, she does, you see her
smiling and all : )

my favourite character of it is Vincent.
you'll probably meet him somewhat soon Ophecks. ^^

I beat it a couple days ago, and THEN I beat Silent Hill 2
for the first time (beat it in one sitting, right after
beating 3... that's a LOT of survival horror). I'd have to
say Silent Hill 2 spooked me much more, it's the better
game. I got the ''In Water'' ending, and it was extremely
depressing, much more effective than the endings for 3.

3 had some pretty creepy things in it though... I expect a
few nightmares in the next few days. The wheelchair on the
other side of the glass, that 'Valtiel'' demon who you see
turning the valves all the time, yet you never fight him or
anything... the cries are indeed VERY unsettling... the
nightmare hospital was SO claustrophobic... those dead
bunnies in the amusement park... that room with the mirror
that slowly filled up with blood... and your reflection
looks like a corpse and stops moving... man, I cried. And
those ''living'' horses on the carousel! What a nightmare.

Man, going from the ''normal'' areas to the ''distorted''
was nerve wracking, I dreaded it.

I don't know about the story... it was a bit convoluted and
confusing and didn't get me as emotionally attached as part
2 did. There was an awful lot of references to the first
(PS1) game, but I never did beat that one... I'm currently
hunting it down though. It probably wasn't a ''God'' at all,
the followers were fools... maybe a social comment.

The game lacked an enemy with the intimidation factor of
Pyramid Head or Nemesis, that was disapointing.

i have yet to play part three, though i highly enjoyed parts
1 and 2. i don't have a ps2 anymore, but i have to say my
gamecube is supporting my desire for survival horror. the
resident evil games have been top-notch (Zero wasn't
terrible) and RE4 looks fantastic. plus, i highly recommend
Eternal Darkness to any horror game fan who hasn't had the
pleasure of playing it yet.

I remember sitting in my bedroom playing Res Evil on the PS
for days when it first came out, it still brings back fond
memories for me, it's probably a good job SH wasn't around
back then cos Res Evil used to scare me alot. These days Res
Evil seems too cheesy to be scary & the monsters get more
overblown & ridiculous every release, it's the twisted
psychological shit that gets me =8S

yeah, pre ordered silent hill 3 on ebgames.com, got it quite
a few days early

very impressed with it, brought back what i really liked in
silent hill 1 (which was pretty non existant in sh2), but
retained the graphic quality/atmosphere of sh2.

story is good but its very straightfoward. this kind of put
me off at first, but the atmosphere alone makes up for a
small thing like that.

right now id have to say my favorite moment is in the
alternate hospital, when you go into that room with the
mirror. now that was fucked.

yeah that felix-site-thing is a really good source. a silent
hill 3 complete soundtrack is being worked on, though i do
really want to get the art of silent hill dvd.

sh4 is in the works too apparently. a voice actor slipped up
by saying she was auditioning for sh4, though theres no
official news.

cant wait

hrm, depends i guess.

me and a friend are slow silent hill players. ie we never
run unless we have to, its always walking. more of a chance
to appreciate the design, which is fucking spectacular.

even on sh2 i ended up with about 9-10 hours. on sh3 it was
somewhere around the same

theres more to silent hill 3 though, more areas. better
areas. back to the ol blood n rust of silent hill 1.

i like it more actually. sh2 is slow to move, although it
has some great moments in it.

Valtiel spinning under them?

a friend and i were talking about how awesome it would be if
nintendo made another mario platform game but all the levels
had silent hill 3-esque graphics and were extremely bloody
and disturbing...yet you still ran around getting coins and
shit. it would give so many little kids nightmares.

i'd buy a gamecube JUST to play it.

it would be complete silence and then when you collect 100
coins or beat a level it would be a full volume top of the
lungs scream.

kinda like those prank things on the internet that try to
get you to turn your speakers up then scare the shit out of
you...and then work.

I rented Silent Hill for the PS1 this evening, hehe... can't
find it for sale around here, yet. Some terrific atmosphere,
despite the choppy framerate and low polygon count.

A school-full of bandaged knife wielding children... and
there's some sort of transculcent crying baby following me
around. Fucking demented.

the soundtrack is really ace,....!

(hint: if you finished the game already, try entering
"PrincessHeart" in the "extra costume" mode... SUPER ULTRA
GREATNESS!!... then take the costume off and re-put it on
for a superb cut scene, fitting so well in the SH3 spirit...
- it also modifies the "heather beam" if you already have it
(i don't) : ))

Just beat Silent Hill 1... WOW, was it ever long! Took me 9
hours, as opposed to almost 6 for part 3 and almost 7 for
part 2. The games keep getting shorter and shorter...

I got the ''good'' ending, Cybil surviving and Dr. Kaufman
coming to the rescue. What a great game... as long as
they're remaking games like Metal Gear Solid and (in
people's dreams), Final Fantasy 7, they could do worse than
to touch up this masterpiece. The atmosphere was just as
good as the other two, but you could tell the Playstation 1
was being pushed FAR too hard for it's own good.

Uzim- yeah, these games have tons of cool stuff unlocked
when you beat them. The Heather Beam, the Sexy Beam... and
she looks so smoking in her spiffy new skintight shirts. The
lightsaber that you can find in the door in the mall is
awesome!

sh2 takes forever to build into it.

but once it does, i really do enjoy it. its more sombre,

sh2 is more grey/decay/psychological
sh3 is more blood/rust/evil-satan-ohno-religion-etc.
