"if peeps keep downloading, one day you'll get music for
free :) " .......Anatma...Sep 4,2003

presumably the comment is toungue-in-cheek, although
thinking about it more it has an element of truth in it. if
people stopped buying music, then there would be no record
labels as such leaving all music on the internet, a
'free-for-all' as such

You can get music for free now, it is just that peeps are
too closed into the thought that it has to be released on a
label to be any good. Personally I think the free shit
Pennyworth has given me this year as been better or equal to
everything I have got on CD.

I want to buy vinyl for mixing and concetrated listening at
home, and then DL the digital stuff for work and walking
around.

What kind of deal is there out there for that. I reckon
after buying one 'license' for th etrack I can then have as
many copies as I want.

and it helps that vinyl is cheeper than a cd

new vinyl $12.00, new cd $15.00

opening the plastic, and looking through the booklet of the
cd is half the fun of the first listen... it's a total
experience... you look through the art and stuff... and
usually the artwork kind of links itself to the music in a
way...

vinyl is CHEAPER than cd? odd.

where I'm at it's very expensive to create vinyl -
especially in small quantities. I've wanted to put some of
my stuff on vinyl, but of course I haven't the adequate
funds.

i think some of the bigger labels need to realize what a
marketing tool the internet is, rather than try to sue
fileshare services out of business.

People will never stop buying music. Just the crappy
"profit" artists will be filtered out.

a sandwich shop sued its customers for eating a free sample
sandwich at the grocery because some other people were
eating those free sandwiches every day and not going to the
sandwich shop

now that i think about it, i remember reading somewhere that
while mainstream labels claim to suffer from the "piracy"
and fileshare crisis, indie labels are booming...... food
for thought.

really what downloading music does is forces artists and
labels to give us more for less... hopefully anyways... we
already have seen so many artists including dvd's with their
cds, and hopefully the price of cds might go down... so it
is good in that sense if that continues...

I find that most of the CDs I buy these days don't even have
a booklet.
