Great record. But I read now that Simmonds was just a fictional name added to the release and in fact it was a 100% solo Vibert affair. I was always led to believe that Simmonds was in fact Jeremy Simmonds and I still believe that. Anyone know any different?

Looking at the evidence it does seem to appear that it was a made up name.

I would get some Vibert Simmons but a lot of the older Rephlex material (other than Aphex's side material) is very tough to get ahold of in the states.... unless this work has been reissued recently?

Its always been pretty easy to access for me. Pop down to Soho in London. Always been a piece of pie getting any Rephlex shit. "Weirs" is pretty darn good; first track is the stand out track for sure. Very different from Luke Vibert's other material but real quality nonetheless.

Oddioblender,
Must be a bitch. Mind you when I first starting getting into decent shit such as Polygon Window (Aphex of course) I had a hard time trying to find stuff. I didn't know about Soho in London until I visited the place in about '94 then I was in bloody heaven. Mind you Soho is a filthy stinking flee pit but lots of good record shops.

Well in this interview Luke Vibert says Jeremy Simmonds was a school friend from Cornwall. Its a realy good interview actualy, interesting stuff about Afx and Squarepusher.
Apologies if you've seen it before, it was posted a while back.

I've only ever heard the track off the braindamce coincidence and i have to say i didnt like it very much. Is the rest of the album like that?
Yeah, Soho is good for record shops. I've picked up some cool records their in the past, including Bubble & Squeak by Squarepusher, before Ambient Soho closed down. Havent ventured much off of Berwick Street though. Any others you can reccomend?

ScenarioDr,
Convent Garden use to be good for record shops. Rough Trade is in Convent Garden. Then there are a few shops in Nottinghill Gate, the Buy and Sells and Rough Trade up Talbot Road. Smallfish Records is at Old Street, Shoreditch end but its quite a hike though. Lots of other records shops dotted all over London too that I've been to in the past but can't remember the locations of.
My sister has got Bubble & Squeak first ever Squarepusher bought I think. She got that at Fat Cat and it came out on Worm Interface, Ambient Soho's label.
"Weirs" isn't a smack you in the face kinda record that you put on and it instantly hits you. It takes time but there are some very strong tracks on it and there are some which require a more chilled mood to appreciate but are very good nevertheless.
