Anyone own this? I loved Civ 2, absolutely adored it, and Alpha Centuri was good, so hopefully in 45 minutes or so I'll have this... hopefully it'll be good... I love this type of gaming though, so addictive!!

i played it, i hated it. it gets to be annoying when each turn is 40 minutes long due to watching every single unit move. its also annoying when the enemy pikemen can wipe out your tanks, infantry, and air support.

i wish i knew. civ 3 was the first civ i played. but usually i like stuff like that. i ate lunch while my turn was processing all the movements of my troops. and no matter how technologically advanced you get, the enemies pikemen will always win.

great game. don't get it, tho, it's more addictive than civ 2
btw, you can turn off the graphic movements of all units, in order to save time.
download the patches for more realistic combat, you'll see no pikeman beating up tanks nemore

I played the original on my 386 a fair bit... kind of game where you'd finish a game and discover that its 5am in the morning and that you'd been playing it all night!

Yes: I own it Yes: It's good.
Absolutely loved Civ II, and Civ III was simply the same, only a little better in many different ways. The trading system is much more complex and usefull. For example, horses appears like a natural resource (like gems and stuff from Civ II) so you can only make horsemen, if you have horses in your territorry, or traded it from someone else...
But youll find out soon enough. very very good game, in my oppinion.
