cevin key

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 16:18 [#00049406]

anyone heard a ghost in each room?
this album is a masterpiece!
great beats scattered samples precise synths. very VERY
good. especially if you are a fan of skinny puppy. ogre
sings on one of the songs too.
i recomend this to all the autechre fans 'cause the way the
beats are organized is similar.

phool on 2001-11-07 16:38 [#00049419]

skinny puppy has been irrelevent for a decade... give up the
ghost man... you can't go home again... it's not 1991...
these guys are just fucking a dead horse 'cause they wasted
all their cash on heroin (ironically called 'horse' by
some). And Frontline Assembly is garbage also. Bet they
all still have the same haircuts.

im glad i never got into skinny puppy

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 16:42 [#00049423]

oh yeah, your right, its not like they were the first all
elecronic band or that they created a whole new genre of
music.
and im talking about cevin key's NEW 2001 album. have you
even heard it?!
or are you some kind of asshole? id really like to know....

That shite is nothing to Ae. Ae, just when it starts getting
old, JUSTEXPLODES with all of this DEPTH and SUBTLETY-- you
can't "KNOW" an Ae album like you can anything by Aphex or
Download or whoever. It's too complex- just when you think
you've got it all figured you put it away for a while, and
then after a while it goes back in your stereo, and, what's
this??

This music is completely different!

Replay value. Ahh.

2-Me0-PhNMePr2N from (((trapped in hyperspace))) on 2001-11-07 16:56 [#00049436]

Actually, I really liked III better than anything. Effector
was a bit too simple...is that the one you're talking about?

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 17:00 [#00049437]

oh i know that!
ae are my favorite groupe next to the orb. two of my friends
said it sounded like autechre to them so i wrote that.
i didnt say it was autechre verbatim .
i said the effects on some of the sounds have similar trippy
effects and arrangements.

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 17:01 [#00049438]

and im talking about cevin key, not download. his new album,
a ghost in each room.
and for the rest of you, the music bares NO similarities to
skinny puppy at all.

2-Me0-PhNMePr2N from (((trapped in hyperspace))) on 2001-11-07 17:11 [#00049440]

I looovvvvveeeed the Orb when I got into electronica
(~e'l-e-e-e-e'llittlefluffycloudsandae'l...) Do you have
AubReyV.2? Is it (good/better/worse) than V.1? V.1 was a
5/10 when I got it. Lent it to somebody a month ago, so I
can't give it an update, but the PWEI remix was
AAAAMMMMAAAZINGGG. As for Download, their beats are too a
bit too dancy, but the ambient effects and shite (like at
the end of that one song on III-Insects or Tunnel, I
think-where it all just stops and says "TAAAKE MEE" with
that echo sound...or when that one track builds up with all
that delicious ambient background and all of a sudden you
hear "suiiiciiide..." from the end of the song- but not
until later, when you know it, of course...) -yeah, Download
has some tight music, just not subtle ENOUGH, is what I
mean. Not enough listens to be had, especially with Effector
(even though Ayahuasca is chill as phuque).

2-Me0-PhNMePr2N from (((trapped in hyperspace))) on 2001-11-07 17:12 [#00049444]

Oh, I haven't heard any strictly-cEvin.

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 17:14 [#00049445]

i havent gotten the orb remix albums yet.
ive got all there orriginal stuff though.
someone said that the remix albums have realy bad mastering
and are even in mono!
i consider the orb headphone music so that scared me off.

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-07 17:15 [#00049446]

cevin key is more atmospheric and less dancy.
very layered.

2-Me0-PhNMePr2N from (((trapped in hyperspace))) on 2001-11-07 17:24 [#00049450]

If my pockets weren't empty, I'd be filling my earies.

I'm broke as shit.

phool on 2001-11-07 17:34 [#00049455]

(1)yes, i am some kind of asshole, you are somewhat
perceptive, that is why i have no friends and post on
mboards...

(2) you say... "oh yeah, your right, its not like they were
the first all elecronic band or that they created a whole
new genre of music." i'm not sure what you mean, Skinny
puppy was inspired by the likes of Caberet Voltaire,
Throbbing Gristle, and Human League, and was original back
in the late 80's, but their genre sort of ran itself into
the ground, becoming a parady of itself. sure, there are
lots of music since inspired by ministry, Skinny puppy,
Godflesh, most of it with Metallica imitation guitars or
even worse third rate attempts at mixing in acid house, but
most of that stuff is pretty lame (i.e. Front line Assembly
(just read their song titles for a laugh!)). That is why a
lot of people got into AFX, Squarepusher, and autechre,
because they were bored by the "industrial" scene. Sorry,
I'm such a worthless asshole, just trying to explain.

(the Human League reference is sort of a joke)

plux from sweden on 2001-11-07 19:54 [#00049500]

teargarden is f**king brilliant stuff..

Vampire Angel from San Juan,Puerto Rico on 2001-11-08 02:01 [#00049588]

I am with plux and dblhelx 100%. I do love also skinny
puppy. I think Cevin Key's Music for cats is brilliant.
Haven't got the time to buy his new one but I'll take your
word dblhelx. Since you like skinny puppy too....Musically
speaking they set a trend for many of todays
musicians....They did experiment with what they had on those
days, wich personally, I admire that on an artist.....Thanx
a lot for your recomendation dblhelx......

Intruder from chicago on 2001-11-08 03:22 [#00049611]

I love Skinny Psuppy. brilliant music never dies.

Jerry Blank on 2001-11-08 04:00 [#00049618]

ae used cone to make their new album. thats why it sucks.
dont know what cone is? look for it. its how you get all
those abstract beats to play on probability. they used to
be good. come to think of it, a lot of others used to be
good. its all bullshit now. finding the good stuff aint
what it used to be.

Pusher of the Square from Mars on 2001-11-08 05:44 [#00049635]
