Fun IDM - Where's it gone?

offline jamesa from United Kingdom on 2003-08-22 07:17 [#00832552]

Some of my favourite cds are the likes of Tally Ho!,
Restproof Clockwork, Come to Daddy, Gary Moscheles, The
Catch (i am robot...), Big Loada etc etc etc

I consider these to be fun albums or eps and never fail to
put me in a positive, good natured mood.

But i haven't heard a new one for ages. Vibert's going all
dnb/acid, and muziq, sp and aphex's latest are heavy to say
the least. Not to say they're bad though, i love them all.

But where has all the fun gone? : (

yeah, well spotted, i got the first one, but i'm thinking

i saw someone with donna summer in their files the other day
but just thought,"obviously a blast from the past" thinking
it was that 80s bird. it looked well out of place!

yeah, casstteboy is funny, but a bit of a fucking headspin.
listened to it twice, probably not again for a year or so.
how does he dj do you know?

yeah, you're right actually. but they played alongside sp
and aphex the other day on that boat on the thames, i just
wondered what he would have done? banged out a few tracks
and dubbed some of his cut ups on top?

Man, fun IDM. That's it. That described the kind of music
I've been trying to make all my life more accurately than
I've ever been able to.

Nice one thanks for that.

i find that the fun idm is just found looking back not
forward. Cylob had fun with cut the midrange drop the bass,
but thats the most recent i know of fun idm.

I have fun with 1970s electronic artist Tomita. Love that
shit.
