Does anyone else here listen to them? I've been getting
back into 20 Jazz Funk Greats lately. For those who don't
know, TG was an industrial band in the late 70s and early
80s who made dark music with underlying sadistic satire and
psychotic noise, with a bit of ambience here and there.

Unique stuff.

Zyclon! Zyclon! BEEEEEEEEEEEE ZOMBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!

genesis p orridge was the leader singer of throbbing
gristle, and later went on to found psychic TV after
throbbing gristle split. the remains of TG would go to form
chris and cosey.

Throbbing Gristle is beyond great. And they aren't "an
industrial group" they are THE industrial group. They
started it all.

i remember seeing genesis in TO, doing this abstract play of

yes and pete christopherson met john balance whilst both of
them were in psychic tv and formed coil.
psychic tv or rather geniisi also formed a cult called tempe
of psychic youth and they recorded some really early
british acid house stuff - some of which is pretty good but
most of which is bad

not much of psychic tv is fantastic now that i think of it,
but when they're good, they're really fucking good.

throbbing gristle has quite a bit of material out - most
record stores don't stock it too often, not here in the
States anyway, but it shouldn't be tough to order. I think
Mute is distributing most of their stuff now....

I'd start with 20 Jazz Funk Greats, and the First and Second
Annual Reports of Throbbing Gristle.

kmfdm and my life with the thrill kill cult a long time ago

Im a fan. There live shows were amazing, they were using
samplers before they were invented, - theres a good live 12"
called "Funeral In Berlin"..i think you can download it, and
it has a good version of 'Aushwitz' on it.

Whats Genesis doing now?..last i heard he was working with
Merzbow and had a sex change.

broadcast..... hmmm...

throbbing gristle are indeed excellent, i kind of want the
24 box set but i dunno a bit of a hefty price, i think ill
just stick to the annual reports and their other material.

I learned about these bands in reverse order. First Coil,
then Psychic TV and then Throbbing Gristle. If you're into
it I highly recommend Psychic TV's "Dreams Less Sweet". I
must get some Chris and Cosey some day as well. Any
recommendations?

the chris & cosey remix album called Twist is my fave.
Includes remixes by µ-iq, tusken raiders, coil vs elph,
vapourspace + more
