I was surprised at how good that polygon window CD is, for some reason I thought it was going to be inferior! Bullshit! Its cool and HMV London only charge you about 7 quid for it now. SAW 2 is better than SAW 1 I reckon. Autechre's LP5 I own. It rules. Get it. Tha Twin and Autechre reighn supreme so get either of these first. Now here's your bit... If you want bizzaar chilled beats then go for SAW 1, f you want very chilled and at times scary tunes go for SAW2. RDJ album is very short, very good listening for a short amount of time. approx 30 mins. That's quite a bit more wild though. Some argue his best. Then you have Polygon window which is mostly not chilled, very cool. I have only listened to it twice but the bits a remember were very fast, not as original and fucked up as RDJ album but awesome and much much longer. I might be thinking of something else but I think that Surfing OSW is over 60 mins. Finally Autechre. Which I am listening to now - LP5. Black casing. Known in shops as Autechre-Autechre (don't ask for LP5 they won't know what the fuck you are on about). Very long, very individual and good tunes. The only thing I'd say is that a bad system doesn't really do it justice. Get a decent Hi-Fi systm and you'll realise wh so many aphexers love Autechre. That is all Hope. I helped. Laters. Piece. |
