all info taken from the great orbital source:

www.loopz.co.uk

more info taken from there:

Info
Orbital's first solo film score will be released on the 20th
October 2003 through EMI. Orbital have also remixed a track
from the album called 'Initiation' which will be serviced to
clubs at the end of August. You can hear the track on the
LOOPZ website on the 27th August.

About the film
Orbital have completed the score for a new film called
Octane. Marcus Adams who wrote and directed the thriller
"Long Time Dead" directs the British film. The film was
completed in November 2002, the score was finished in
February 2003 and the film should be out on November 14th
2003.

Luxembourg, June 3rd 2002 saw the start of the 9-week shoot
of OCTANE, the first film from Random Harvest's genre film
production label Four Horsemen Films. A new style of horror,
OCTANE is a stylish, high-energy feature drawing on
America¹s double obsession with religious cults and the
open road.

Paul Hartnoll described the music as "Dark and minimal" and
"Not too experimental weird...a bit more conventional". He
explained that they have been using "the moody expander"
type sounds that were familiar in "Dwr Budr" to give it its
dark feel.

Phil Hartnoll said, "Music still excites us. That's the best
thing - having something that drives you. Get that thing
that does it for you. Film is a different discipline for us,
a different approach. You've got a job to do, and it's a new
challenge."

The total estimated playing time should be around 43
Minutes!

"Not too experimental weird...a bit more conventional".

But hardly surprising for a film soundtrack though, non?

release

In Sides was half-concieved as a number of imaginary
soundtracks - The Box EP was directly a soundtrack to an
imaginary film, so the Hartnolls have said.
The Box, Event Horizon and In Sides are my favourite Orbital
releases.
Anyway, I've been looking forward to this release since it
was initially announced back in... what, March? Can't
fucking wait.

I saw Long Time Dead and it has to be the worst fuckin piece
of junk movie I have ever seen. I doubt this movie will be
any good either...

There MAY be a new album released this year as well, but
will probably be early 2004 (spring)...

Never that keen on Times Fly. Probably my least favourite
Orbital EP, actually, although I do love 'Sad But New'.

what I would really wish is a cd with all the three satan
live cds together

those live tracks are great

The score is fucking great. Dark and moody. Although it
suffers from having the reoccuring theme in almost every
track.

in sides is unbeatable.

the double vinyl is a better buy than the 3 cds. do you
really want 3 live versions of the same track?

the satan live single was 3 different cd singles with
different live versions of stan on them with othe live
versions of other things and there was a double vinyl
edition aswell with the pick of the live tracks from the
cds

did you ever check the list of tracks i posted in your best
orbital tracks thread?

so that double vinyl has the same tracks as the 3 cds
together?

I already have those 3 cds... I would just want them all
together in just one cd

I have no turntable

Hey cool...another Orbital thread :)

nacmat - there is a hidden (no listed) live track on the
double vinyl that isnt on the 3 live cds.

Octane is a score as opposed to a tune album and yes the
film is terrible to be honest. Its worth watching for the
music (bizarre to say) as it works really well.

The next album which is complete will be out next year. Its
very tasty...trust me :)

It's a shame that some of the best musicians around always
end up providing music for some of the worst films around.
:(
