you are correct - well maybe Ratchmaninoff was superior, but
Liszt did many things that are still done today.

He was the first pianist to turn his piano sideways so
people could see his profile, and was actually very
energetic. Also, many of his pieces are very difficult to
play these days because he had big hands - so he wrote them
for himself.
