I wonder if LFO will be using there as well? What do you
think JivverDicker as you seem to know so much :D

I wish I knew more famous people, or that I could find out
information like this before anyone else.

Who knows!?! I went to sheffield and saw squarepusher, it
was brilliant to hear it loud... it took me a few days to
recover from too many shorts!

I had been criticising his music before I saw him live...I
have never saw anyone perform and live in the music as much
as he did the night I saw him. I came away with a new
respect for him musically. :P

I was gutted I couldn't make it to the Sheffield one as
well. Did they have tickets on the door?

I never met anybody famous. I'm sure if I did they'd be
impressed. And that impression would be to stay well away
next time.

I knew someone that worked at the 'Leadmill' so it was okay,
the ring modulater thing that he put his bass through was
really cool, everytime he'd stop playing it'd make a
brilliant wwWaaAAHHH noise that he used rhythmically
brilliantly!

I am, in some obscure way I've not tracked down yet, related
to serial naughty doctor Harold Shipman. Not much of a claim
to fame I'll be the first to admit...

Indeed, I mean, house/idm/unlistenable experimental
elctronic bollocks/etc music is all fine and well and lovely
to hear, but it pales in comparison to Kylie jiggling her
cheeks at the lens!

*chortles*

Would be worth hearing. That track (which I've forgotten) on
that compilation (which I've also forgotten) that's a mashup
of that track (um...) is great. (Tired.)

I'd love to hear some top pop acts join up with uber-cool
idm superstars, but it'd never happen. Autechre vs Cher.
Yeah. She'd get more than a face lift.

i've always thought autechre could dominate college radio if
they did some tracks w/ underground american rappers.. afx
could do madonna's best album ever except it would be afx's
worst album ever.. etc.

It is boring though hearing 'underground' bands complaining
about 'pop' music. Why don't they make a difference and do
something positive for everyone? Eno, Kraftwerk, Bjork etc
have. The whole elitist shit sucks really.

Problem would be matching temperaments. I can't see Aphex
having the same kind of work-ethic as Madonna :D And I'm
sure afx could work wonders with Madge's source material,
but it wouldn't resemble a Madonna record... no bad thing.
Not that I hate Madonna... always had a rather embarassing
thing for La Isla Bontia *hides*

Bjork is about the only person who's got away with some cool
collabs, as far as my addled brain can remember...

yea i'm sure richard would be miserable doing it but he'd be
miserable anyway

madonna's sucked enough blood from quality artists but i'd
be lying if i didn't admit richard could turn her out

Mirwais took her tracks home and played with them, I like
madonna, there's nothing wrong with helping kids be
interested in new styles. Aphex is a chicken though, it's
not artistic integratary, it's fear of stepping out of his
mould.

i like madonna too, some of it at least, i just think she'd
work with anyone to keep herself trendy

richard's grown really conservative in his years, rarely
releasing music and when he does it's just his homages to
already existing artists (merzbow, the bug, bogdan,
squarepusher, satie, 808 state)

Maybe he just genuinely doesn't like her music. If I had any
musical ability I wouldn't want to remix... *thinks of
someone he doesn't like...* ...Jamiroquai, or however the
hell you spell it.

I actually go with Jivver. I know they were only rumours
but didn't Aphex say he would do a Madonna track in return
for her making farm animals noises for on of his releases.
Had she agreed he would have managed to maintain his
trademark "wierdness" so it wouldn't have been a problem for
him to do it.

offline xceque on 2003-08-14 19:56 [#00822767]

There's a bit of a broderline between introducing kids to
new styles done by commercial artists trying to become
trendy and not getting it quite right, and doing it by
getting top artists in to collaborate and produce a decent
result.
The former usually ends up becoming more popular by
association to the better-known artist and "watering down"
the style.

Or something. Talking crazy this evening...

I heard that rumour too. If it's true, it's pretty obvious
that he said it knowing full well she'd never agree. I
wouldn't! I'd assume he was taking the piss. Which he
probably would be.

Maybe, but in the past he hasn't been reverant to other
things he's touched. If he'd dare to make a three minute
pop song with someone, I'd respect him on a different level.
Especially now where you can communicate your musical ideas
to the limited, like minded few via the internet. I'd be
soo happy if track from Druqs made a real diiference to
lots of people but it didn't happen. I loved/love tracks
that make a real difference.

that forum was something special in my life...i was much
younger, and there was less music floating around, no
napster or similiar, and the users were so kool, i'd like to
meet them all....that forum looked so perfect, with that
warp-site colours and fonts...sometimes i think that it was
only some kind of digital internet dream.....

They shut it down because they are running a label, not some
fan outlet, and too much of their time was spent moderating
the damn thing.
