why?, i think not because their not directly man-made like acoustic instruments.
that beach-boy thing is a tricky in between though...

Soe of the most moving sounds I have ever heard are on autechre tracks. Sounds that move you are sounds that you have linked to emotional events in your life, if you haven't always listened to electronic music then you may not have made those connections yet.

that's another approach, interesting i was talking about expression though (again: with sound not composition)

Any sound can be used expressively. If you use a midi keyboard and trigger a sound on your computer, how is that any less 'expressive' than doing the same thing of a traditional piano.

im having trouble with the title of this post. Do you mean 'can electronic music move you like acoustic songs can?'

Eggshell moves me to tears, or at least a lump in my throat. Track 7 of Draft 7.30 (VL AL?) too. It's the first ae track in a while that makes me feel like Eggshell.

well.. it depends.. much of the time, electronics try to recreate the sound of acoustic instruments.. so in a way, you can do most of what you can do with real instruments with electronics, but it usually involves sampling the real instrument at some point.. i don't know if it's really comparable.. but, i'd say the combination of them both can be more powerful than just one or the other..

true, maybe i'm just oldfashioned (piano is an unlucky example as you cant modify the sound after you've struck the key, but that would make an piano less suitable for expression: have to take that to the instrument thread again)
