My fucking sound

Henry Rodrick from Sweden on 2001-11-05 09:14 [#00048605]

I just let some friends hear the track "my fucking sound"
from the Squarepusher album. They thought i was sick in the
brain or something :) I really like this track cause if you
concentrate a lot when listening to it, you will hear nice
rythms instead of chaos!

Archrival from NYC on 2001-11-05 09:37 [#00048610]

Yeah all my friends think im mad just because I like
Squarepusher :(

FERNZ on 2001-11-05 09:53 [#00048614]

I sympathisize with you. Everyone I know hates him too......
:(

Oddioblender (formerly Organ Grinder) from from my own little fantasy world on 2001-11-05 10:15 [#00048621]

Squarepusher is fantastic!

My fucking sound is pure genius -- i especially like the
part around the 6 minute margin where he throws in those
percussive voice bits.

By the way, a little fun fact -- if you crank your
headphones to high while listening to this song, around the
6:30 mark you will faintly hear "come to fucking daddy"
chopped up with a high-frequency noise burying it. :)

Henry Rodrick from Sweden on 2001-11-05 10:19 [#00048624]

Yes this part with voice segments is my favorite too!

By the way, does squarepsuher have any roots in the
dub/raggae culture? he always speaks about slectors :)

teapot from brisbane on 2001-11-05 10:34 [#00048628]

all my mates are into death metal and now they're all buying
Confield. They've seen the light.

Archrival from NYC on 2001-11-05 13:40 [#00048683]

Big up, come on my selectah!!!

B3n from Sheffield on 2001-11-05 16:07 [#00048707]

Yeah, I really like Sqaurepusher and my friends think I'm
mad. I really like the organ bit near the middle/end of The
Exploding Psychology (I think its that, I don't really look
at track names, and I think Drukqs is making it even harder
for us :) )

oysterclam from the briny deep on 2001-11-05 17:00 [#00048728]

the track 'my sound' offa music is one rotted note is also
the shilzno hilzno bilzno.
i'm slowly but surely turning all my junglists into
squarepusher and aphex fans. i did get most of them to buy
bogdan's samuri math beats but that shits just pretty dnb.
imeanwellshit

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-05 17:04 [#00048729]

heres what you do: get good car stereos and blast that shit
in the supermarket parking lot, youll get some great looks
from old ladies. i play go plastic while im driving through
my college campus. hehe everyone else is listening too
slipknot and limp bizkit and im drowning em out with
boneville occident.

Henry Rodrick from Sweden on 2001-11-05 19:23 [#00048787]

Hahah... slipknot sounds like damp, hate it...

Question: Why doesn't the turntablist in slipknot do any
thing?
He doesnt even seems to be connected to the main mixer :)

B3n from Sheffield on 2001-11-05 20:11 [#00048797]

Its the same in Linkin Park...wait, its the same in all. I
once saw Rui Da Silva (sp?) on a kids tv show at a big
mixing desk but it wasn't plugged in and he was pretending
to tweak it. haha

Henry Rodrick from Sweden on 2001-11-05 20:19 [#00048799]

Its all so pathetic, respect to all real battle djs!!!

B3n from Sheffield on 2001-11-05 20:50 [#00048807]

Yep,

Wow, I forgot how good this 808 State Remix of the Stone
Roses 'Made of Stone' is. Excellent, I recommend it.

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-05 22:18 [#00048827]

i hate dj's who only make compilation mixes. like paul
okenflooker.
GET OFF NAPSTER AND MAKE YOUR OWN TUNES YOU NAPSTER PIRATE
SOB'S

can i smack your friends with my penis, they probably are
fake dead-heads or rap loving cock smokers

aperson on 2001-11-06 00:01 [#00048861]

My brother likes aphex twin and squarepusher. I got him to
blast boneville occident really fucking loud in the
highschool parking lot. Everyone was looking at us. Funny
shit =]

Ophecks on 2001-11-06 00:15 [#00048869]

I love getting attention with my weird music, it makes me
feel superior, which I am.

Aktium from bat country on 2001-11-06 05:27 [#00048927]

YA SO DO I, I LIKE PEOPLE THINKING IM FROM ANOTHER PLANET
WHEN I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE BANDS THAT ARE ON THE RADIO.

Ross on 2001-11-06 07:13 [#00048937]

it's kinda a bitch to describe what squarepusher and aphex
sound like to non fans..but for some strange reason, ive
introduced people to autechre, squarepusher, boards
(especially) and they all liked it, mostly acquaintances
from school, but they digged it..

Archrival from NYC on 2001-11-06 07:30 [#00048942]

ITs easy to introduce BOC, everyone seems to like em from
my dad to my friends siss. BOC is easylistening compared to
Squarepusher. Both those artists is DOPE!!!

DblHeLX from the moon on 2001-11-06 07:35 [#00048947]

just like to correct oddioblender by saying that the line is
'just remember...who's(im) the(your).. fucking daddy'
on the 'song come on my selector', there is a similar line
that goes, ' IM THE FUCKING DADDY'
squarepusher appears to use variations of that saying alot,
but big loada came out before come to daddy so who knows.

od from perth on 2001-11-07 03:14 [#00049259]

i reckon a good way to get dance heads into squarepusher is

dance - > fatboy slim - > the old prodigy - > squarepusher

coure prod to SP may be a bit of a jump, but if they cant
make it then its their loss ; )
(ie i couldnt think of any bands that fit there)

al>< from dublin on 2001-11-07 09:38 [#00049284]

'mfs' is the go plastic tune most favoured by dj's
seemingly. I've heard loads of 'em play it. At first you'd
think...'every other tune on the album would mix
better'....but therein lies the genius of SP.....what seems
like chaos is sheer beauty. SP's sound is to music what the
2001 monolith is to a lead fucking slate

i don't know! ask tom ;)

maybe it was a track/cd selector... or maybe it has
something to do with the video, where the little girl
selects the subjects to be brainwarped! (:

In Jamaica, they call the bloke who raps over the tunes the
DJ and the bloke who selects/plays/mixes the tunes the
Selector.

Dub -> D&B -> Squarepusher
