i'm moaning?
i buy a lot of the albums i download; i guess the quality being shit kind of encourages me, i guess. just sucks how soulseek used to be such a cool p2p application, with such high quality mp3's, and its getting to the point as being as bad as kazaa :(

It does not feel like stealing to me, I spend shit loads of money on CD's. And some of them arre shit but therre is no 'this is shit' label on it.
14 pound forr a CD seems like stealing to me.

I'm sick of people complaining (nobody here does it I think) about how cheap it is to make a CD, and how expensive CD's are. For fucks sake, you're not paying for the CD, you're paying for the music ON THE CD.

I don't feel bad about d/l music, I pay money to be connected to the net just like I pay for a TV license. Would I feel bad about taping films or music from TV?....No, it is encouraged & not at all frowned upon. Just because we are cutting out the middle man (Government & thier taxes etc) & doing it for ourselves. I say more power to the people!!!!! ;p

yes but it would be unethical to skip the commercials because that's where program makers get their money from... so you must watch the commercials :)

well, actually, you do pay a small amount of money for copyright reasons for each tape that you buy.
this isn't true for cd-r's up till now.

The only time I have trouble with soulseek is when the server is down. The program itself never gives me trouble. I have noticed lots more 128kbs mp3's showing up. Prolly from former kazaa users. Queues are longer now too. I have banned many people today alone for eithor not sharing anything, queueing way to many files, or both. And I do not consider myself a thief. I am buying more cd's now because of p2p than I was before. Now when I buy a cd I already know if I'm gonna like it. No one wants to spend $15 on something they may not even like. I feel it is my right to hear it first. It's true I would never buy some things I have in mp3 and won't delete the mp3's. Simply because it may be good music, but not good enough to buy even if I could hear it no other way. So is it stealing if I wouldn't buy it regardless of my ability to download it? I've bought my share of cd's and plan to buy more. If anyone wants to seriously accuse me of being a thief then go right ahead and be part of thje problem. I'm done now...

i still need to get soulseek....
actually, a college did a study about a year ago on music downloading, and the results showed that it didn't affect record sales negatively - it actually BOOSTED record sales.

It seems to me if you are downloading only to preview music, a 128 kbps mp3 would be enough for you to decide whether or not to buy. I mean, a lot of online stores just have lo-fi streaming and that is enough for me. But I can't really tell differences in sound quality very easily I guess.

example: IF I download an album and think, "This is good, but not good enough for me to buy it," then I at least want a decent quality copy. You never know, it may grow on you and then you want to buy, perhaps even a year down the road. 128kbs mp3's rarely make anything sound good enough for me to buy it.
