i'm hoping it might turn out to be a decent flick,

if it is similar in any shape or form to resident evil

than i shall bring a bag of pure disgust.

I think this movie was great... perhaps too long though (I
watched Romero's directors cut)... but very good.
I don't think the remake will be better than the 1st one,
but perhaps it can be 'nicer', e.g. having nicer photo.
In a way I prefer "Day of the dead" because it is a more
beatiful film...

Night of the Living Dead was awsome when I first saw it.
I've heard something about it being one of the first movies
with a black lead actor...true? And the way it is filmed, in
black and white and with the relatively closed set of almost
only one house, was very dramatic to me.

And the end...loved it.

Maybe the funnest movie I've ever seen, I'm still looking
for the uncut version though. I do NOT want a remake...
those horrid clothes, makeup and the Goblin soundtrack are
part of the appeal. I wonder who'll star... Lawrence
Fishburn?

I loved Night of the Living Dead too... haven't seen the
remake though. I didn't like Day of the Dead much... it had
a nice setup, with the city overrun and nobody left, but
there's too much characterization scenes under the ground
and every darn character is an asshole!

will twilight of the dead be made ????

at the IMdb

Ving Rhames - the Sign of Quality. Sarah Polley is okay.

ofcourse there is NO reason to do a remake though.

Nice cast! Though I agree this is a pointless endeavor. But
I like the actors at least. As long as its better than the
Night of the Living Dead remake.

Hmm.. I hope this is gonna be good.

I saw the Day of the Dead remake and it was as pointless as
the remake of Psycho.

At least there are some cameos from the original cast
members which might point to it being treated with the
respect it deserves.

Also, the fact that only the mall is the same and most other
aspects will be different might be a good thing.. Psycho
anyone?

well i saw Dawn of Ze Dead tis weekend and i have to agree
with Deadeight, i prefer Night of Ze Living Dead.

i dunno the way the movie started was rather off putting.
the first 20-30 minutes i didn't really care about the
characters or what happened. and it certainly wasn't scary
in the least.

anyway AFTER the first part i got into the movie, but i'm
glad i didn't buy the DVD so i could see this movie cos i
woulda been selling it back. it was good but not the GREAT
and original fim that Night was......so while i'm glad i saw
it, i was seriously UNDERwhelmed.

Dawn of the dead is by far the best.

The only thing that I didnt like was (As dumb as this
sounds)

The blood color. It looked more like pink Play doh more then
anything. The remake of night of the living dead isnt too
bad. The main chick is wayyyy too un likable. Day of the
dead is just awesome : )

"the first 20-30 minutes i didn't really care about the
characters or what happened. and it certainly wasn't scary
in the least"

Well, I never thought these films were scary.. or ANY films.
I'd be sorely disappointed if I expected to be scared by a
film.
Just the way I am: I like the genre but not because I am
remotely scared.

About the first 20-30 minutes: I'm not sure you're supposed
to like many characters in the early part of any of the
trilogy.
Particularly for Dawn of the Dead, that period is more about
throwing you into the deep end since it sets the scene of
'this is already an epidemic' kinda thingy. So you just see
loads of hysterical persons running around.. and the fact
they are not necessarily likeable goes to show how much more
interesting his films are than your standard Hollywood fare.

I have to agree on that.

I quite like that the characters aren't squeeky clean - they
are pretty realistic. there's this "epidemic" so people
become egocentric and want to save themselves.

but I still empathize with the main characters simply
because they show different angles of reaction to an
epidemic like the one portrayed - so I kind of switch
between characters.

the movie just didn't engage me, at the start. it took a
while to get 'into' it. for me i like movies that get you
involved pretty soon after it starts, otherwise you're
looking at your watch and wondering when it will be time to
leave.

after they got to the mall it started getting a lot more
interesting. i like HORROR movies that SCARE me, even if
just a lil......it's the rush of adrenaline that really gets
you INTO the movie!

It's about as scary as a bunny rabbit, but it's still my
favorite ''horror'' (quote-unquote) movie of all time. The
whole mall-thing is like a fantasy, I'd love to take one
over (minus the undead/bikers).

I hated the start though, it was awkward and confusing...
the whole apartment seige. Nice deaths though, Tom Savini is
a keeper!

Yeah, just good campy fun. You're bound to be disapointed if
you go into it expecting to be afraid or creeped out...
totally different universe.

Maybe Romero was feeling the pressure and felt he couldn't
make something as unsettling or vital as Night of the Living
Dead, so he took another approach. Because as great as Dawn
is, it isn't exactly earthshattering. It would have been
much harder for him to make another Night.

Even the molotov cocktails? The naked zombie? The really hot

intimidating black lead (first ever!)? The exploding truck?
The dead person on the top of the stairs? The kid stabbing

I like the claustrofobicness of the film.

and what I really love, but that's also in Night, all the

those do creep me out. the whole idea of this slow and
