Why isn't Warp music in big films?

Its good enough. Atmospheric enough. I'm thinking of good
'IDM' artists in general such as BOC, U-Ziq, Aphex etc etc.

The movie industry is fairly sewn up, there's plenty of
people that make a living by making soundtracks that sound
like famous tracks but with just the right amount of
variation so copyrights aren't infringed.

in other words, on the whole, it's cheaper not to.

qrter,

I would guess thats the case. All the same some half decent
Warp artist would jump at the opportunity to score a movie
for even a fraction of the usual pay I would suspect.

most of the time it's all part of the deal, emi=aol etc. the
music finds the movie not the other way around, it's the
entertainment ind remember. money, money, money, money. you
make more with a film and soundtrack and both are normally
just as shitty as each other. big corps keep it inside.

I don?t suspect that - theres more to life than money. Who
wants to be associated with Hollywood?!?!?!

example, i own X company, they make music. I own Y company,
they make movies. why use Z?

AOL=EMI is a bad thing, they can survive loss much more.
charts are so shit these days...

probably.

supposedly Phoenecia were making the soundtrack for a film
about Jacques Derrida - not exactly a mainstream movie
though..

Money money money. Yes money makes the world go round. And
most of you know nothing about it or how to make it so you
bitch about those who do. How predictable.

oh ok... well I've used macs to get onto xlt some times, and
it has never worked for me, but I never tested anything but
IE for mac, so it might just aswell be the browser.

I think what is really predictable is the fact that a big
film will have a soundtrack with a big label

what a strange thing to say (although, in your case, also
predictable, as you have said it before).

you can only 'bitch' about people who have money if you have
lots of it yourself? or if you can make lots of money?

mm.

nacmat - yeah it?s quite easy to understand (for the most of
us). Warp is a "independent" label and I guess they would
prefer more "independet & alternative" (whatever that is)
films for their music...

qrter,

Oh I just get sick of the anti-corporate bullshit. I just
wish for once people would quit the trip. There is entry for
everybody if you're good at what you do and pushy enough
with your agenda.

JivverDicker: Guess I should try running Netscape instead,
maybe then I?ll get rid of all questionmarks and get the
missing "follow up"-feature......

aphex is used in a lot of mainstream(-ish) films, remember
the FAQ? as for other acts, i guess it's partly the
producers being cheap, but maybe also the artists say no..
