Aphex Equip.

LaMerNil from Canada on 2001-11-03 23:36 [#00048333]

Does anyone have info on the synths and drum machines, Aphex
uses? I have heard alot of stuff out there, and he seems to
use a vast array or instruments. thx

*sigh* this question gets asked every week, try reading back
a day or two before posting such a blatant (ly stupid)
post.

If you must know, Aphex uses the following gear in 90% of
his songs:

Korg Electribe EA-1
Casio CT-500
Casio SK-1 (for those lush snare rushes!)
Eurorack Mixer (he does their endorsements, also)
Specially-modified saxophone with pitch shifter for
basslines
Yamaha DM-2 drum pads
Fender Stratocaster
An old harpsichord that belonged to HP Lovecraft

you've got so many machines Richard

Hey this is a message board and by it's nature NEW people
come along and will inevitably repeat questions... be
patient with them mate

He uses MTV music generator for all his newer stuff. He
wrote ICBYD in C++. I'm absolute sure about this so there
is no need to continue this post any further or ever ask
this question again.

does anyone know if there is a specific drum machine/module
that contains the nice punchy acoustic sounds on some of the
drukqs tracks like "taking control" or are they just sampled
... they make me go mad - insanity being a good thing.

Pork Gadget on 2001-11-04 09:16 [#00048389]

Taking Control sounds like it uses a TR-707, but what do I
know?

Stuffinsuch on 2001-11-04 11:01 [#00048395]

He uses baribie dolls with talking pull strings and japanese
chop stix to make that vocal sample.

I really think too that he uses a tr-707 on "Taking
Control". He's using other drum machines in the middle of
the song, then goes back to the good old 707. He was able
to made it sound cool, for once. I got one, i can make it
sound nice too but you know... that's not the best Roland
did :)
