Hardware only please. Software doesn't count. Don't post "I
make all my music on my laptop/PC/Mac" either. I have all
the softsynths too, but it's just not the same with Kazaa
around and whatnot. They're not eh you know, worth their
weight in gold exactly.

What HW synths do you own? Is there one you'd never sell in
a million years?

I have 6 synths and one sampler. The one I wouldn't sell is
this old Roland SH-5 I bought in oct 96. If you look it up
on image google, you'll see it looks like something out of
Dr Who. It doesn't sound incredible, but the filters are
nice. 18dB VCF and one separate bandpass filter. It's nice
to run stuff thru it and the looks alone inspire me to mess
about.

I would, but Royal Mail are very unreliable.

DO YOU SEE?

i have:

roland jupiter4
roland alpha juno II
roland SH-32
novation A-station
korg EA-1

the two i would never get rid of are deffinately the newer
ones. the a station, and the SH-32. ive had the A station
since it came out, and am still finding new things out about
it.

the SH-32 ive only had for about 6 months, and to be honest,
i havent really done anything with it. in fact, i havent
written a song in about 12 mnths. but, when i get the time,
this synth will be the centre piece. IT IS FAT!

I have a roland mc303 but its broke. the synth sounds are
shite in general. the strings are alright though and it has
a good sweeping filter. also the arpeggiator is nice for old
skool basslines.

korg ms2k, korg es-1, nord lead 3.

i'll never sell the ms2k, and the nord, unless it's to
upgrade to a newer nord.

Ah the Nords. I have two modulars, a minimod and the rack.
The NL3 is incredible, but I'm not sure I could abandon the
free flow of the modulars.

Korg O5 R/W. Unfortunately its not working totally perfectly
anymore :-( . Use of the effects tend to cause output
problems other that that its ok.

I got a Roland rs-5 - nice feeling keyboard, velocity
sensitive, not weighted though and no aftertouch. Very nice
piano, electric piano, brass and string patches, plus some
vintage synth tones. Sucky organ patches. Lots of nice
effects. The patches can be edited but you're stuck with the
basic waveforms.

I use it as a controller and GM tone bank.

That combined with my Doepfer pocket controller and an
armada of VSTis and Fruity generators, is more than I can
get tired of.

Someday I'd like an old Juno and maybe a Nord.

I USED to have a ESQ-M (ESQ-1 in soundmodule format) which
was really really fat sounding. Analog filters and noisy
digital osc's. Had to go though, bills bills bills...

I wonder what the new Clavia G2 will be like, the new
modular. I read on their website it's possible to just buy
the engine and edit it through your computer. The keys
version looks nice too.

i've got a korg er-1 and a yamaha dx100. as far as samplers
go i've got a casio sk-5.

i know u said don't mention software, but i run LSDj on my
gameboy and the hardware in a gameboy is actually some
powerful synth/sampler shit.

it's like having 4 monophoic instruments to control in a
tracker enviornment (two square wave synths, a channel for
sampling and software synthesis, and a noise synth).

my gameboy is small, it's worth way more than it's weight in
gold.

i've seen nanosynth for the gameboy, i'm guessing it's
similar, think i'm gonna get it. and i've got two sk1's but
there broken :*(

Now: Ensoniq TS-10, Nord Modular kb and dx200.
Soon: Nord Modular & Roland V-Synth
(I didn't count Akai MPC-4000 as a synth but it can sure be
one). ;)

Oh, and I prolly never sell my Modular kb...too damn good!

Roland Juno 106
Roland MC202
Roland JX-3P
Korg Wavestation A/D
Roland XV3080
(hopefully adding an Analogue Systems modular with custom
EMS Synthi filters soon)

Hmmm... The two I would NEVER sell are the Juno 106 (which I
use on everything I do), and the Wavestation, which is a
totally unique synth, sounds so much smoother and has so
much more presense than any other digital/software
synth/module I've ever used.
I'd really like to get an EMS Synthi (although they're a bit
overpriced at the moment)...

Paco: I'm a big fan of the SH-5 myself! Almost bought one a
little while ago on ebay.

The two synths I most regret selling are my old Korg MS-20
and TB303 (which I picked up for £50) - I made a massive
profit on both of them, but they've left a big hole in my
studio...

sorry to drag this off topic between spacecadet and me ...
but:

if you're considering getting any software for the gameboy i
would suggest LSDj over NANOLOOP a thousand times over.

LSDj is more of a total workstation for programing sounds,
effects, and songs ... you have tight control of the
gameboy's sound hardware.

NANOLOOP is just a loop making tool with poor control over
sound chip parameters and you're probobly better off with a
gameboy camera!

currently i’m trying to master this:

http://www.trom.fromru.com/music/bo.jpg

oh, this type of hardware is really hard...not saying it’s
a bit heavy to move…but i hope i’ll succeed

;)))

Do you continously have to refill the bottles with liquid or
is it some kind of non-vaporizing material inside to tune
them? : )

i've got a long way to go before i'm able to do anything
with this thing :)
