Your 1st Track

this one's for all the musicmakers on xltronic:

does anybody still have their 1st ever (or at least very
early) tracks up on the net?

what did they sound like?
do you still think it's da shiznitz?
have you managed to scale aphex-like musical heights since?

here's ME circa 1998:
humble beginnings

and ME circa 2003:
back to the future

comments welcome!

yes, it's still up.

it's the first one in the list, called ach.

it's a remix of an electronic track by a friend of mine and
yes, I still like it.

it's all happening here!

not up... made in 1998 or so...
I will start uploading my stuff soon...
I'm better at producing/mastering today,
but it was just recently I understood the process more...
some of my old tracks are real good though, but most are far
from completely finnished.

hmm. intriguing stuff for a 1st ever electronic track -
reminds me a bit of fennesz.

does mp3.com.au not have any restrictions on the amount of
tracks you can upload?

after a corporate whore takeover by vivendi universal, the
regular mp3.com site only allows 3 tracks max unless you,
erm, pay to play!

i linked to my mp3.com page in ambsace's old thread, but i
have some absolutely hideous shit i made right after
i downloaded sonic foundry acid without any loops and i
couldn't make my own loops. it is some random sounds from
the computer game "abuse" looped over and over, with robot
voices (which, back then, i thought was necessary for
electronic music) saying "hand over the cart." i have a few
more of equal quality, like "run from cartbot" "can u handle
it" and "mook's attitude" but i wont put those up.

"cart song" 64kbps (because its not worth any more)
apparently made sometime in 2001.

check it out if you want a good laugh, its seriously the
worst song ever made.

My first track is safely on my hard drive away from
everything, i really like it but it would be really lame to
anyone else.

No, it isn't up. I've never really enjoyed harming others
for no reason.

Alex: How long have you been making music?

the only copy i have of my first track (from 1997) is full
of wow and flutter and tape hiss, and if anyone asked me
directly to hear it, i'd let anyone hear it. but like most
everyone else here i have to twist arms to get anyone to
listen to anything, so i can't imagine who would really be
interested in hearing this track. demo track one, it's
provocatively titled...

mines not online but it's on an old tape somewhere, it's
from around 1998 when i was 16 and it's just me and a friend
making noise on a couple of his dads old analogue synths
with me playing the melody from eggshell by autechre over
the top, and it sounds shit

<- thinks about it

no :)

earliest id like you to hear is the gate old tunes

'nicorette is grate' and 'harmless' are good examples of how
bad we were back in the early days :D although that period
was also when we first started to be OK

the first real track i had made was with the band i played
in when i was 13. it's completly lost, :`(. it wasn't that
bad. monotone bass + drums, guitar with lots of effects and
female vocals. sounded like joy division, A Bit.

I still have all my old acorn archemiedies disks with my
first tracker music on. Not that I have any way of using
them now (which is not really an entirely bad thing).

If any one is interested then HERE is one of my
very first tracks from an album I did called Mento Case. The
tune is called yadecinevah and is kinda like old
school stuff. I did it on my mc303!!!

a go at remixing / remastering all these traks. but anyway.

And, in two years, you've never tried another music style ?

(not that I don't like your music, just curious)

I can't play ANYTHING. except my laptop.

and there is still so fucking much to learn in what I am
doing now, so I'll be going at it for quite a while yet.
also, I don't plan it - I kind of see where it takes me.
thirdly, I don't spend that much time making music - it kind
of goes in spurts (ooh! matron!).

Damn... My first track was probably made around -93 on amiga
with pro tracker so... And I used to "overwrite" the DCC
tapes all the time with new music so much of my early stuff
i vanished for ever. ; (

The first track or tracks I did were back in 1994. The
original tape of about 6 or 7 of my early tracks from 94-95
has dissappeared but my sister has a copy of it.

i've been writing music since i was 11, (1993) so i don't
have any of my first songs on the internet. i was playing
guitar. me and my friends were in a pitiful excuse for a
band.

i starting playing on computers in 1998, but didn't start
using them for music exclusively until 2000. My first
electronic song was this pitiful track called "Nintendo on
Crack." I still have it on CDR in my closet.

I do however, have a track up from my first album. It is
HERE and called Plus Vs Minus Equals Slugfest.

I started using an Atari and other equipment back in '94.
And here we are in 2003. Time and tide eh.

wait!

I tell a lie! it has only been about a year since I started
this music lark.. :P

I really don't know how I got that confused.

however, a friend and me had made the soundtrack to a play
together - those were my first electronic tracks.

and it seems my friend still has one of the better tracks on
his site:

right click-and-save (or stream)

the quality isn't that good - only a 64kb mp3.

I still like it a lot. :)
