Devine and Phonecia.
Otto is more VSnares or Aphex territory. Wild and Goofy.

Alot of the individual artist releases on Schematic are hit
or miss for me (more miss), but they put out some killer
compilations. "House Of Distraction" and "Lily Of The
Valley" are two great records IMO.

Definitely check out Phoenecia's Brownout. I also like
Richard Devine's Lipswitch. And though I haven't heard any
albums by O9, the tracks I've heard on some compilations are
real nice... so look into O9.

Phoenecia are fantastic. Get their album "Brownout" and
listen to it all the way through in one sitting.

Richard Devine no doubt...LipSwitch is the best, but any of
his are way up there...

(better than AE in places...between you & me ;)...

o9's album is scheduled for release on schematic this year.
he's only had a few compilation tracks, a 7" and a 12" out
(aside from some remix appearances, mp3's and alter ego el
machetero) but the material has been stellar so far. this
is my most anticipated release of the year, hope it
delivers.

your best bet on schematic, as has been pointed out, are
compilations, especially "lily of the valley," and "ischemic
folks."

the phoenecia album "brownout" is excellent, and has a
surprisingly unique sound and vibe. however, it might not
be as "idm" melodic as arovane, lexaunculpt, etc. for more
melodic work, check their ep on warp.

your best richard devine bet is "lipswitch," which is hard
whipcrack robot funk, again not so strong on the melodies.
check out some of his remixes and you'll get a good idea of
his sound.

"brownout" has quite a few melodies, but they're more
hidden.

the last track, melfad, is almost 10 minutes of melody.

true, but very subtle, not the bubbly poppy idm melodies...

THIS IS TRUE.

but, those are the melodies I like best.

if you get the odd jobs ep, i recommend the one with the
soul oddity remixes (there's an intense ae mix and a richard
devine mix too).

BTW..

Check out this prototype Web site for Schematic designed by
Josh Davis (of Praystation fame..)

http://www.joshuadavis.com/portfolio_web/web_2002/schemat......

I don't think it was ever used; BIG PITY as it's great
design...

Also...keep your ears peeled for Shapeshifter - soon(ish) to
be released on Schematic...
