Just now life seems pretty bollocks so I am gonna go for a
jog and give myself a good kick in the derriere rather than
continue to wallow in my self-indulgent pity. :-)

i've been feeling like shit too recently, so i'm gonna give
up drinking and drugs for two weeks and see if it helps, i
think it's important to understand that sadness is a state
of mind and that you can get rid of it by thinking positive

I'M A GOOD PERSON AND I LOVE MYSELF AND WHO I AM!!!!!

aaaah joy ^_^

brain and you control your emotions...

a good way to vent sadness is to be creative. thrust your
emotion into a creative splurge. you might be surprised.

as for miles davis, he is THE man.

it helps when you put things in perspective, i mean, were
all sat here quite happy on the net, with clothes, food,
stereo's, even just freedom to dow what u want when you
want! life is good no matter how bad things get, sometimes
it's good to talk, and if your really down or angry, have a
good cry or beat the living shit out of your sofa ^_^

bring to your mind one of your most joyful memories...but
don't think of it as the past, try to experience the memory
in the present as if it were happening now, let it come back
to life right now, and realize that the joy, though derived
from the past, exists right now, in every moment, and always
will exist right now, in every moment.

your attention is a powerful tool. if you get in the habit
of experiencing joy every day, soon you'll be thinking "i
notice it's been a long time since i felt blue..." the good
thoughts you can carve in marble, the sad thoughts you can
write in the sand.

*cues "flamenco sketches" and lets the needle drop into the
groove*

*cough*quid pro quo for an unfunny joke*cough*

sorry if i was too heavy handed in my unfunny reply. i do
take the well-being of people very seriously, though,
especially when they've chosen to communicate their
feelings. better to not create an environment in which
developing strategies to think positive are seen as "gay,"
by which, anus, you mean weak, effeminate, submissive, etc.

in my experience here, anus, you are ordinarily
nonjudgmental and accepting. a "brown reason to live."

'I' don't think gay people arre weak, effeminate orr
submissive, but that is the sterreotype (be it stupid) and
the prremise of the joke. people herre know we well enough
to know that i say that without meaning to cause offence to
gay people orr anyone forr that matterr.

okay just for the record, I am neither gay nor clinically
depressed. i'm feelin much better now. like I said, I combat
my ills thus enpowering myself, rather like when BraveStar
gained "Strength of the bear, the bear, the bea...." No
cause for concern folks!

offline plaidzebra from so long, xlt on 2003-07-31 13:04 [#00802593]

we can only hope we know we well!

though it seems that doing without meaning might be not far
removed from doing with meaning...

anyway, now i know that if you call me "gay," you don't
really mean to invoke all of the stereotypes and negative
connotations associated, nor to disparage those individuals
who actually are homosexual by using their sexual
orientation as a reference for a joking insult.

i was not offended, and understand that you did not intend
offense. i will temper my heavy-handed do-gooderism from
now on!

mc_303_beatz, i was just trying to contribute positively to
the thread, didn't mean to dramatize your blueness. your
simple prescription was probably the best advice anyone
could give, anyway.
