Songs that make me feel like the world is going to collapse
but I'm going to float into space and be alright:

1)Autechre - Rae
2)Bola -Track 6 from Fyuti
3)Theme to Terminator 1
4)Aphex Twin - Flim

I like 'happy cycling', the track near the end of I care
because you do, the one that loops 5 bars and......lots of
debussy.... they make me feel melancholic sometimes..

as for individual tracks, my melancholic favorites are:

Squarepusher - Song: Our Underwater Torch & I Wish You Could
Talk
Aphex Twin - Mookid

when it comes to albums, i'd say Autechre’s LP5 has that
certain irresistible melancholic flavor all over it…

…and as for non-IDM stuff, Eberhard Weber’s Pendulum is
quite a moody thing

I've never found any melancholy in 'film' or 'iz-us'

Jivver.. what is debussy? I always see that in the programs
I work with but always thought it was someone's name.

I've always thought drane2 was pretty powerful/intense in a
melancoly kind of way. and that long, sprawling vietnam song
on one of autechre's eps

Claude Debussy was a french composer, the same school as
Ravel but even mor romantic. Amon Tobin samples him to
death... get 'La Mer' that's his most famous/accesible piece
which is amazing.

La Mer is not his most famous piece... download Claire
D'Lune, it's a piano solo that is absolutely brilliant

Also, Arabesque 1 & 2, and Reverie

really? i've always thought 'iz us' was one of aphex's most
melancholy tracks, and that flim has an odd bittersweet
mixture of happiness and sadness that richard often seems to
capture so well.

i'd say squarepusher's 'my sound', isan's 'dilly', brian
eno's 'always returning' and boc's 'everything you do is a
balloon' are near the top as far as individual tracks go,
and 'the tired sounds of stars of the lid' is definitely a
melancholic electronic masterpiece album.
