 | Have we ever had a good topic on fighting games?
I want to hear it now: Fave fighting games, characters, and
if you could possess any fighting game move, what would it
 be?

GAMES: Street Fighter Alpha III, Capcom vs. SNK II, Marvel
vs. Capcom II, Guilty Gear X2 (UNDERRATED!!), Samurai
 Showdown, Tekken Tag tournament

 CHARACTERS:
 Ryu
 Sagat
 Blanka
 Guile
 Kim
 Terry
 Geese
 Rock
 Haohmaru
 Nakoruru
 Hanzo
 Jin (Tekken III style)
 Heihachi
 Yoshimitsu
 Baek
 King
 Axl-Low
 Venom (from GGear not Marvel)
 Slayer
M.Bison (US version, the SFII version, not the pussyass
alpha version because why play as bison without A GODDAMN
 PSYCHO CRUSHER?!)

ANY MOVE: If I were a fighting game character, this would be
 my move catalog:
Hadoken (the Marvel VS. Capcom version), Geese's Reversals,
Psycho Crusher, Tiger Throat, Hunting Hawk, Teleport,

 SUPER MOVE: Super Psycho Crusher

 | yeah, there's a lot of good fighting games in japan we've never seen here. there were quite a few 16-bit dragonball z
fighting games over in japan that never made it here, mainly
because no one knew what dragonball was at the time.

 | actually, the reason why america doesnt' see many games is that they don' meet their product sales bench.

in other words, crap. the only ones americans ever even hear
about are the ones whom ppl are die hard wanks for the
 series.

Guilty Gear XX is fantastic tho, just none of my mates seem

 greatest Fighter in the world.

My fav character is Cammy but only the Cammy from Super
 SFII. Evil Cammy sucks.

 | handoverthecart - i ALSO enjoy Super Smash Bros. It's easy to pick up but deep and has lotsof replay value. it's oe of
the only fighters on gamecube.... :-D

revpersona - fuck yeah new samurai showdown! can't wait! did
you ever play the samurai showdown RPG?

nanotech - yes, tekken 4 disappointed me. but i have to say
that steve was a good character! and i can't believe i
forgot KillerInstinct! that game was fantastic. fulgore and
 tusk were my faves there.

Chri5py - GUILTY GEAR XX like a mothafucka! Props for the
SFAIII ref. Definitely one of, if not THE greatest 2d
 fighter ever.

Dolleater - Great taste! Yeah, MK just went downhill after
MKII. Bloody Roar is good, but they need to start making the
engine deeper to keep it fresh. And STREETS OF RAGE OMG!!! I
rocked that shit back in my Genesis days.. I'm actually
playing Streets of Rage II right now. Blaze and Axel whoop
 some ass.

 | I've NEVER liked fighting games... although I used to be a pro at Street Fighter 2 Turbo/Super/Champion Edition and the
first two Mortal Kombats! After that, I just stopped playing
them altogether. I played Guilty Gear a year ago or
something and it wasn't bad, but that's not my thing
 anymore.

I DO love side scrolling beat-em-ups though... the Streets
of Rage series, Final Fight, Double Dragon... I could play
them all day. Brawl Brothers on the SNES is a personal
 favorite.

Neo Geo has some great head to headers that I played a few
times just for the ART. Samurai Showdown, Last Blade, King
of Fighters, etc. I love the 2D style. Good to hear SS is
 staying 2D!

 | you should sentenced to four years in prison for mentioning clay fighter. uurrrggghh!! pretty bad. not as bad as SHAQ-FU
though. If you haven't heard of it, then you're blessed.

River City Ransom is also a great beat-em-up.

Here's a good fighting fact: The first SF game, Fighting
Street, was actually developed by the people who would later
leave capcom and found SNK. and for years afterwards the
 companies fought for arcade supremacy!!

 | The first game in the Street Fighter series was awful, more of a historic signifigance than anything! Ryu wore weird
 shoes or something.

 And Ballz was definitely awful.

 | Did anyone here ever play a Genesis/Megadrive fighter by the name of "Eternal Champions?"

that game was fucking sweet. and the final boss was very
 challenging.

 | Two games I do not remember being mentioned in this thread:
 Brutal

 and

 Body Blows

I think thoose are the correct titles,
bouth games were released on bouth
amiga + pc and some consoles (I think they were ported to
 some consoles).

 | YES! That game was/is great! The big black guy in the jumpsuit, the wizard that turned you to gold, the ninja
girl, the gangster with the rope, the dead vampire with the
hole in his chest... man, memmmmmorrrieees. Really
underrated! There's an even better Eternal Champions game
for Sega CD, but I think about 4 people in the world have
 ever played it, I haven't.

 | Most "realistic" fighting game - UFC
Most Fun and Mindless - One of the SF2 variants.

Best Oldschool - Mortal Kombat 2

Most Over the Top - Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

Best overall- Soul Calibur DC (Soon to be displaced by SC2
 on the GC I imagine...)

2d fighting fans- get a DC! So many recent ones for that...
Guilty Gear, SF3, The definitive Vampire Saviour, etc.

Ophecks- apparently the fatalities in the mega cd eternal
champions were really nasty and there was nothing
funny about them (unlike the Mortal Kombat ones which were
always a bit of a joke...)

Key Secret- You're right, I had Ultimate Body Blows on the
PC... It also came out on the ill fated CD-32 console.

Chri5py - Yep, cheers for sorting me out with that :) Not
played it in a while as I don't have a psx anymore (I kept
the game though!) How's Bishi Bashi? We'll have to meet up
for a game, you've had it long enough ;)
