i posted this before uder someone else's topic but got no
reply.

OK, so here's my query: I woke up the other morning to the
sounds of the local college radio station playing this
wicked indie-pop tune, the chorus of which contained the
line

"like sailing on merciful seas"

i didn't catch the name of the band, but it was said it's
apparently on Bella records or something of the sort.

GOOGLE does fuck all trying to search either for the lyrics

(and i think "saling on merciful seas" is the title of the
track as well) or bella records. same with the ALLMUSIC
guide.

can anyone help me?

i've looked into that, and i'm well aware of its existence,
but as there are absolutely no sound samples of tracks by
artists on bella union, i have no way of knowing. =(

yeah, i checked the site and they have tons of releases, but
no easy way to search the site for a particular song. i'm
sure you noticed that bella records is a jazz label, i
think.

yeah, it's some obscure label from chicago with only two
artists signed to it.

it's a shame that CDNOW got taken over by amazon.com, as it
was a good source for short but informative sound samples.

but goddamn, that track has been permanantly stuck in my
head ever since i heard it. arrrrgh!!!

alas, there is an MP3 section on the bella union site,
though strangely enough, it is not featured in the
navigation bar for easy access.
