 | forget Aphex Twin and Autechre! without Kraftwerk, Richard D. James would probably be rolling through the deserts of
Iraq in a tank, rather than through the streets of Cornwall,
and Booth & Brown would be getting their PhDs in
architecture by now. could it not be argued that without
Kraftwerk, electronic music as we know it wouldn't have
happened? (and for that matter, hip-hop as we know it
wouldn't exist either, as Afrika Bambaata sampled Kraftwerk
in the seminal rap track 'planet rock')

here's an article on the return of the rightful kings of
 electronic music from the Guardian:

 kraftwerk returns

 | i had a dream once in which i was invited to the Bush family residence in Texas and got to meet both Georges, Barbara and
the whole lot, but throughout, even within the dream, i
didn't quite know how to feel about all this, since
ideology-wise, i'm as far away from conservative as you can
possibly get, but on the other hand it did seem as though it
was in some peculiar way an honour of sorts to be introduced
to Mr. President and his family.

so my question to all of you is: what would you do/how would
you react if George Jr. invited you out to his ranch for
 some beef patties?

 | Considering New York DJs in the early 80s (most notably Afrika Bambataa's 'Planet Rock') were spinning and
manipulating Kraftwerk tunes into their own tracks, plus
most Detroit Techno pioneers would indicate Kraftwerk as an
 influence, I'd wager a big-ass YES!

 | Well...nobody denied it for you to be so shrill about it...so yeah, they are Gods. Who said no here that you had
to try to shove it down like that ?

Anyways...glad you like Kraftwerk...I love them to bits too.

 | hmmmm... maybe we should ask THEM who their influences are? maybe there is someone on another level even deeper then
 kraftwerk?

 influences :D)

 | oh yea, just read the book on kraftwerk, they're up front about their influences. still, i'd say kraftwerk are tied
with james brown for redefining and reshaping modern music.
