 | I don't care what electro has to say about my threads, I have to post this... this album is just so good... I love
it... so relaxing, and deep, and beautiful, and amazing...
see this is the kind of ambient I love... it has beats, but
the beats aren't the main thing... here the beats are kind
of subtle in most places, yet their there... yet the
melodies and sounds everywhere else are just so good...

My favorites so far: Valley, Oxbow Lakes, White River
Junction, and Slug Dug, but all of them are sweet... this is
great... I played it last night in bed, and it was awesome!!

 | Plateau just floors me! Such an airy, etheral, astral and all other kinds of spacy tune, built over a smooth 14
minutes of ambient washes and dubby turbulence.

IT'S WHAT GOD SOUNDS LIKE, MAN!

 | Plateau is one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard.

THe manipulation of space seems to fuck with my head a
little. He's constantly playing with the reverb.

 | Yeah I have this record...its very good. Not normally my sort of ambient but nonetheless a decent record. Lately I've
been in more of a synthpop mood. Anyone here know of Otaku
 No Denki?

 | I listen to Orblivion a lot. I have yet to hear or buy anything from Orbus Terrarum. If I like Orblivion, would i
 like Orbus Terrarum?

 | I don't know. The past Orb albums rely a lot on space and drawn out atmospherics more than Orblivion. I suggest you
try out Orbus Terrarum, that would be the best, most logical
step. It's grounded, but tends to expand its music in more
directions than Orblivion, which tends to be more straight
 forward.

 | n-gon- i think orbus terrarum is much more ambitious, unique and less dependent on contemporary stylistic references (not
that this is necessarily a bad thing) than orblivion. ot is
dense and sprawling, loose and syncopated, very different
from orblivion. if you really like orblivion, though,
you'll probably want to sample some other orb flavors. it's
probably your best bet for the next orb purchase.

 | I ADORE the way the thrashy drums kick in i the minute or so of Montagne d'Or (Der Gute Berg)...Valley and Plateau are
beautiful too. And Slug Dub is just plain funny.

 | Occidental is...odd. Doesn't seem like is mixed right (or maybe that was the point). I like the weirded out synth and
the flat metallic reverb of the percussion, but the samples
in the mix are very strange choices, even for The Orb.
Doesn't weaken the album (too many brillant moments to do
that), even for a bit overdone 13.5 minutes.

 | Glad to hear peeps like it. None of my friends were to enthused when I bought it but I was convinced it would grow
on me and it has. I love the little samples in Slug Dub,
they crakc me up every time.

 | if you listen to the melody in slug bub that comes in the first time at 1:55, those of you who are fans of miles davis
will hear that it is...eerhhm...stolen from a track called
"calypso frelimo"... maybe "stolen" is the wrong word, it
could be a homage to davis...but i dont think its
 coincidence.
