Phrase Samplers?

I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on
Phrase Samplers??? i.e. not traditional samplers, but ones
that play loops and stuff and can be used in a live setting
(eg Roland SP808, Yamaha SU700, etc)

I am interested in buying one. I used to have an SU700 but
I sold it. I am interested in playing live again, but also
want something that I can take with me places to record live
audio (guitars, mics, etc).

I was therefore thinking of the Roland SP808. Anyone give
me any advice/tips? I would like to spend a max of about
400 quid. I've seen em second hand at this price.

When you are in newcastle do you fancy doing some live
stuff?

I could play some live funny / strange sounds on my computer
in the back ground, whilst you do some live stuff at the
front of the stage.

I have made some instruments. Check out my site if you want
to see them.

the SP-303 is pretty nice... and yheah not much disk space
but its cheap... you can buy 2 of them ^^
or you can always buy an smartmedia for more space.
the other option is an sp-505... it´s also nice... the
sp-808 is more studio-related imo... not my kind of machine.

SP-303 is really nice stuff. Ive got it. Correct it hasnt
got much disk space, but you just need to get a memory
card.

The FX are great. A lovely reverb.

how about the new electribe SX from Korg. it's like the new
electribe MX from korg but with a sampler option. I've heard
lots of good things about this one.
especially for live playing. you should try it. the SX is
the red one.
